“Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013″

Signed into Law on May 15, 2013.


The K-12 Basic Education Program aims to
provide every Filipino child with the education s/he
needs to compete in a global context.

The goal of the new curriculum is to give


Filipino students enough time to master skills and
concepts so that they are ready for tertiary education
when the time comes.
Naninindigan pa rin po tayo sa ipinangako nating
pagbabago sa edukasyon: ang gawin itong sentral na
estratehiya sa pamumuhunan sa pinakamahalaga nating
yaman: ang mamamayang Pilipino.

Sa K to 12, tiwala tayong mabibigyang-lakas si Juan


dela Cruz upang mapaunlad—hindi lamang ang kanyang sarili
at pamilya—kundi maging ang buong bansa. –

What is the K to 12 Program?
The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten
and 12 years of basic education (six years
of primary education, four years of Junior
High School, and two years of Senior High
School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for
mastery of concepts and skills, develop
lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for
tertiary education, middle-level skills
development, employment, and
entrepreneurship.
Why is there a need for K to 12 ?
1.) To improve the quality of education in the
country there is need to expand the ten-year
basic education program in the country .
What other countries are getting in 12 years
we are teaching them only in TEN years.

Mandatory Kindergarten
RA 10157- the policy statement of the new law—to provide equal
opportunities for all children to avail of accessible mandatory and
compulsory kindergarten education that effectively promotes
physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and skills stimulation and
values formation to sufficiently prepare them for formal education.
Use of Mother Tongue as Medium of Instruction -
from K to 3
