I. Description of the Project

A. TITLE OF THE PROJECT:

HYDRO-SIKHAY SA PABLIK (Hydroponics

Farming System)

B. PROPONENT:

Mrs. Maribeth Co- Danipog, MT-I - Technology

Livelihood and
Education teacher and RNHS Faculty and Staff
President
C. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

School situated in a hilly place, where regular and ample supply of water is a prevalent issue, Embracing the “Joy

of Farming” is a dream. Specifically, for the students under the agriculture specialization classes (Grades 9 and 10

Agriculture track). Deprived by the unique bond with the natural world, that makes “farmers as some of the

happiest people on earth”.

Thus, as a teacher in TLE Department and as RNHS FSA- President, the dire need for an alternative farming

system and addressing the issue is inevitable. In line with this, the students inclined in the said skills formation

courses can experience and enjoy the sense and purpose of agricultural arts.
C. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

HYDRO-SIKHAY SA PABLIK is an income generating project with strong potential that will benefit not just the

school, students in the agricultural arts classes, also those students undergoing the feeding program. The produce

from the HYDRO- SIKHAY will be included in the set of menus during feeding day. To generate income for

funding of school activities and programs.

HYDRO-SIKHAY as alternative farming system will address issues for the need of regular and enough water

supply, and the need for healthy soil to grow healthy plants.

A method of growing crops without soil, an effective system for growing plants in the coming future, it is

likely to be one of the most useful and sustainable ways of food production.
D. DURATION:

This project will begin upon approval in November 2023 and will conclude in November 2024.

Production will be extended for another year based on demand from all possible consumers.

E. LOCATION:

The project will be created and operated in front of the new JICA building in Rizal, National High

School, SDO Nueva Ecija, Rizal District, Población West, Rizal, Nueva Ecija. This is the most

strategic location for the project's operation.

F. TARGET

The HYDRO- SIKHAY SA PABLIK PROJECT aims to plant

and grow Romain Lettuce (green and red} and Bok Choy using 10

Kratky Sets with 9 holes from this month of October 2023. They

will be expected to survive, grow, and ready for harvest within six-

eight weeks.
II. RATIONALE

A. BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

An attractive farming method in this modern and technological world. Hydroponics farming

(Kratky/Passive) system/growing system is a far better option than traditional. As a farming ang

growing methods that substitutes water for soil that ensures the most efficient use of it and produces

higher yields, by boosting the growth of the plant to its fullest.

Hence, among the hydroponics farming systems, Kratky or the passive method doesn’t require

expensive equipment’s, little to no maintenance, no electrical devise to supply water to the plant,

still, plants have access to water and nutrients.

This IGP will pave the way for students taking up Agricultural Arts, giving them the opportunity,

knowledge, and experiences to develop lifelong skills that they can use and apply as they go on with

their lives, in this continuously changing modern world.

An IGP and farming system that will open various windows of opportunity for our students and the

school not just in farming, but also a training ground in cookery and entrepreneurial activities. Through

this IGP, it will create a ripple effect in which the school can generate another IGP or an Investigatory

Project in Science.
The main goal of this IGP project is on helping the school and students in having a means and
resources for its need as well as enhancing farming and entrepreneurial techniques that can be
utilized as a source of living
B. LOGICAL BASIS OR BASELINE DATA

In accordance with DepEd Memorandum No. 233, s.2016

Implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GGP)which encourages schools

to establish school gardens to ensure continuous supply of vegetables for the school -
Based Feeding Program and to promote food security in schools and communities,
through self-help food production activities. True enough, what you eat is who you
are, our health is our best wealth. The bottom line is, on the food that we eat. One of
the basic needs of man, to survive.

In an era where industrialization is prevalent, eco-friendly, efficient, and effective

system of plant and food production is essential. Making things possible, even in the
far- flung areas where healthy soil and a good water system is nowhere to find
C. OBJECTIVES:

1. To build a complete, functional, operational, and long-term alternative

and modern farming system.

2. To provide a platform for the students to develop, apply, practice, and

hone their farming interest, creativity, talents, and skills.

3. To have a deeper knowledge of the relevance of an alternative and

modern farming system for sufficiency.

III. SCHEME OF IMPLEMENTATION

A. Management Aspect

The practice of growing plants in water that has been supplied with nutrients

and oxygen instead of in soil. A miraculous technological advancement with

significant implications for human survival.

Kratky, a passive hydroponic system renowned for its straightforward,

affordable, and simple construction method.

nutrient kit, seedlings, tap water inside the working area/greenhouse.

c. Fill the reservoir with water, there should be a gap between the bottom of the

suspended cups and the water level.

d. Add hydroponic nutrients to the water at suggested amounts indicated, stir

after filling.

e. Check the ph. level of your solution. It should be within 5.5 to 6.5.
f. Insert the net pot with growing material and plants into the lid's openings. Keep

some of the roots hanging freely in the air and others submerged in the nutrient

solution.
