What is Dengue?
 Dengue is most common and severe illness
caused by flavi virus ( Dengue virus)
 Dengue can cause heavy fever and Chills which
can be dangerous in severe cases.

 Causative agent :
 Itis caused due to flavivirus with 4 distinct
serogroups ( DEN – 1, DEN – 2, DEN- 3, DEN – 4)
Symptoms :
 Incubation period is 3 to 10 says, symptoms can be seen
after 3 days.

 High fever
 Chills
 Nausea
 Vomiting
 Severe headache
 Pain behind eyes
 Muscles and joint pain
 Swallon glands
 Platelet count decrease
There are 3 types of fever in
Dengue :
1. Mild Dengue fever
2. Dengue Haemorrhogic fever
3. Dengue shock syndrome
Mode of transmision :
Dengue is transmitted through a
mosquito i.e. Aedes mosquito.

Diagnosis :
CBC to check platelet count.
Prevention :
 Wear long sleeves and trousers outside
 Mosquito repellant cream and spray should be
used
 Screened window in house, Use mosquitoes net.
 Burning of mosquito coil
 Avoidbeing hitting by mosquito or avoid that
affected area.
Treatment/Control :

 Paracetamol for fever


 Painkillers
 Should be hydrated
 Avoidasperin because of their
anticoagulant properties caused bleeding.
