What is Threads? • Threads is a new app built by
Instagram/Meta. People can log
in with their Instagram
accounts to share text updates
and participate in discussions.
You can post up to 500
characters in length, and they
can include links, photos, or
videos up to 5 minutes long.

Elon Musk’s Twitter Take Over

The emergence of Threads came to be after


Elon Musk bought Twitter at $44 billion.

Uncertainty follows his ownership

After Musk signed a deal to acquire Twitter


in April, he tried to back out of it, leading
the company to sue him to force him to go
through with the acquisition.

The takeover means Twitter is becoming a


private company. Trading of its shares was
suspended Friday, and they will be pulled
from the New York Stock Exchange next

Threads vs. Twitter
Threads allows users to post five-minute videos, while Twitter limits non-verified users to two minutes and
20 seconds.
Threads offers users 500 characters per post, in comparison to Twitter's 280 characters.
Threads' feed shows posts from everyone, irrespective of a user following the account or not, whereas Twitter
has two feed options, one curated on the basis of user preferences and other on the basis of following.
Threads is an ad-free experience, which is most likely to change in the near future.
Twitter has a discovery page, a following page, hashtags, and direct messaging, all of which has yet to come
to Threads in any capacity.
