FORMS OF

INDENTION
Letters are written using different
forms of indention. The different forms
of indention are Block Form, Modified
Block, Full Block Form, and Hanging or
Overhanging Form
A. Block Form
In this form, the heading,
complimentary close, and
signature are found at the
right half of the page while
the inside address,
salutation and paragraphs
are written at the left side,
even with the left margin.
B. Modified Block
Form
The modified block
form differs from
the block in only
one respect, each
paragraph is
indented
C. Full Block
Form
In the full block form, all
parts of the letter from
the heading to the
signature are written at
the left side, even with
the left margin. The open
punctuation is used.
D. Indented Form
 In the indented form, each line of
the heading and inside address is
uniformly indented either three or
five spaces more than the line
which precedes it. Beginnings of
paragraphs are also indented while
the complimentary close is in line
with the dateline. The signature is
written two to three spaces to the
right.
E. Hanging or
Overhanging Form
In the hanging or
overhanging indention, the
heading inside, address,
and signature follow the
block form while
beginnings of paragraphs
are even with the left
margin. All the other lines
in the paragraph are
indented five spaces from
the left margin.
