Crop Protection1
Crop Protection1
REPELLING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
• Crop damage caused by animal attacks is one of the major threats in
reducing the crop field.
• Due to the expansion of cultivated land into previous wildlife habitat,
crop raiding is becoming one of the most conflicts antagonizing
human wildlife relationships.
• This paper presents a development of Internet of Things application
for crop protection to prevent animal attacks in the crop field.
• A repelling and a monitoring system is provided to prevent potential
damages in agriculture, both from wild animal attacks and weather
conditions.
OBJECTIVES
• The main objective of this project is to provide an effective solution to crop
damage caused by animal attacks problem, so that the economic losses
incurred by our farmers are minimized and they have a good crop yield.
• It helps to save time and money by reducing the manual work that is
otherwise required if the farmers themselves had to provide protection to
their farmlands with their constant manual supervision.
• The manual work done in order to keep away the animals from the crops is
automated, hence such constant supervision is a thing of the past with such
smart protection systems, which are capable of identifying and taking the
required actions themselves without any human intervention.

WORKING / PROCEDURE
• The main component is the NodsMcu.
• Power supply is provided to the NodeMcu.
• The power supply section contains a step down transformer for
stepping down the AC 230V into 9V and is rectified using bridge
rectifier and filtered using capacitor filtering method and given to
NodeMcu.
• The camera and the other components are connected to the Node
mcu.
• The camera continuously monitors the fields.
• Acting as the brain of the system, the NodeMcu continuously checks for
the motion in the field.
• If any kind of motion is detected in the field, the NodeMcu checks for the
presence of animals and captures the image using the camera attached.
• It uses the PIR sensor to detect the living organisms around the field.
• The PIR sensor is typically mounted on a printed circuit board containing
the necessary electronics required to interpret the signals from the pyro-
electric sensor chip.
• The complete assembly is contained within a housing mounted in a
location where the sensor can view the area to be monitored.
• In addition to PIR sensor we use two other sensors that is, humidity
and temperature sensors to check the climate conditions and it gives a
report to the farmer about it.
• The three sensors are connected to the NodeMcu through an IC called
LM324 which is used to convert analog data to digital form.
• Bluetooth is connected to the NodeMcu through a serial interface in
order to convert it to the TTL logic.
• In the output side there is a relay, which acts as a switch in order to
turn on or off the circuit.
• We use a buzzer to make sounds when animals are detected.
• Also, we have an electrical fire system in order to scare the animals and
make them turn away.
• Buzzer and the fire system are turned off or on using the relay.
• All these are connected to an app and the farmer can install this on his/her
phone.
• And through this he can monitor everything on the field.
• He/she can also check the weather conditions on that area.
• The major advantage is that no human effort is required here.
• Even though the farmer is far away from the field he can monitor it
regularly.
