Mr. Softee sells ice-creams at outdoor events. He often buys too much or too little ice-
cream from the wholesalers, and therefore does not make as much profit as he'd like to.
He decides to record how many ice-creams he sells over a number of days to see whether
there is a link between the temperature and the number of ice-creams sold.

First decide on the scale for your axes.
Highest x value = 30
Lowest x value = 15
Lowest y value = 50

10 students took a Maths test and a Science test.
Their scores are shown in the table. Create a
scatter graph to represent this information.

The scatter graph shows the age of some runners, and their best
time for the 100m.
A runner takes 15s to run 100m. Use the graph to estimate their
age.
"A 15 year old should run 100m in around 11.5s" - what do you
think of this statement?

Temperature (°C)
Mr. Softee has watched the weather forecast and the temperature is going to be 25°C.
Estimate how many ice creams he can expect to sell.
Identify 25°C.
Draw a line to meet the line of best fit… Then to the other axis.
Estimate the value… Mr. Softee should expect to sell 83 ice creams.
