IMPORTANCE OF SPREADSHEETS

Spreadsheets are important in both an office and a schools as they are excellent for presenting information to
students and keeping data records for student progression and assessments. Graphs and charts effectively present
complex information in a more visual format; some students find data and information easier to understand in a
chart or graph.
They help to bring a few advantages, including; Making large amounts of data easier to view, manage, and analyze.
Allowing you to create visual presentations using charts, graphs, and tables. Removing the need for repetitive
calculations by automating them with formulas.
Spreadsheets can mainly be used to show graphs but they're also used to spread out information to make it easier
to understand and to find certain pieces of information

Formulas and functions can be useful in more complex situations,


including calculating mortgage payments, solving engineering or
math problems, and creating financial models.

I used the SUM function to help me add up from B5 to M15 so I


could get the total expenses for my spreadsheet

a simple way of
displaying data and
statistics, there are
various forms of a
chart such as; bar, pie,
line, scatter, and
column. The data
acquired in one chart
can also be used in
various charts or on
its own separate.

need to calculate it from acquired data.
Finally, they can improve usability by
displaying data in an easier to read and
understand form.
3. Filters

- Filters can help to


improve productivity by
allowing the user to find

details in seconds out of
hundreds of other
customers listed. The can
improve accuracy as well
as usability as they only
display information that
matches the selected
filter options.
4. Conditional
formatting
• It's very similar to variables
and charts in that it does a
calculation to display
information in an easier to
understand form.
• This can help to improve
productivity and accuracy
by highlighting low-

improved as it can
make the evaluation of an
area of business easier by
making it much clearer.
5. Sparklines - Sparklines are a very smaller version of charts, but they fit
into a one-by-one cell . This can help to increase
productivity and usability by only occupying one cell,
thereby freeing up a large amount of the excel page for
other additional charts and tables that'll be needed to
display more important information, data and other
variables. It can improve accuracy as it compresses data
from a selected field into one single cell.

meaning it would only take a few clicks to reuse a macro. It can also
improve usability by giving the user quicker ways to access various
pages.
8.Proofing

• Proofing ensures that the writers meaning is understood by


the reader. Spell Checking ensures that what you say is what
you mean and helps to avoid simple spelling and grammar
mistakes . Thesaurus’ can help to improve your sentences to
make them stand out by suggesting words like enormous,
vast, and grand instead of big or even its antonyms.

• This can help improve accuracy and productivity as users


would not have to worry about miss communication thus
reducing how much they must re-read everything.
9.Hyperlinks

• Hyperlinks allow users to link pages, files and even URLs to texts or
images. They work similarly to a macro in that it can connect various
pieces of work within the document, to other documents and even
websites
• This can help to improve productivity and accuracy as instead of searching
through various documents, hyperlinks can make them ine click away as
well as give the user a way of making them more organized by having a
sheet as a main menu with a link.
10. Nametags

• Name tags can be used to label sections of text or images, this


can help to organise work.

• This can help improve productivity as it can help the user find
specific data sets that they or fellow colleagues have previously
highlighted.
