• Introduction of pollution and its types
• Introduction of the soil pollutions and its types

• Controls of the soil pollutions.
Introduction of the pollutions

• Release of the pollutions , harmful substance or product into the environment , which can cause adverse
effects on the living organisms and the naturals ecosystems.

• We mainly focus on the critical environmental issues of soil, water, and air pollution, exploring their
causes, effects, and the sustainable solutions necessary to protect our planet's health.
Definition

• Soil pollution is defined as the change in the physical,

chemical, and biological conditions of the soil
by any natural or human-made (anthropogenic) means,
resulting in the degradation of soil quality.

 General definitions, soils pollutions can be defined as the

increment in the toxic elements in the soils like the
presence of chemical, salts, harmful diseases, radioactive
waste or anything that change the soils quality.
Sources of the soil pollutions .

1. Industrials Activity / Industrials wastes

 Disposal of the industrials waste is the major

problems for the soil pollution.

Sources: industrial pollutions are mainly discharge from

the various reasons such as Paper and Pulps mills, chemicals
fertilizers like (N02), Sugar factories, minerals ( golds,
diamond ) mining industries
Cement, Petroleum and Engineering industries etc.

 2. Agricultural Activities
 Modern agricultural practices pollute the soils to a
large scale. With the advancing agro-technology
huge qualities of the fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides
are major sources which long term effect on the living
organism and soil.
 And another side, farm waste ( Animals dead bodies,
food waste ).
4. Radioactive pollutants

 Radioactive substance release from the explosion of nuclear testing :

 Release of radioactive substances from nuclear explosions.
 Contamination of soil with radioactive fallout particles.
 Radiation liquid leaks from nuclear power plants.
 Improper disposal of radioactive waste.
 Summary :- BY nuclear testing their dust contaminate soil, damage
eco-friendly microorganisms like earthworms and bacteria and
reducing soil fertility .
 All the radio nuclides deposited on the soil emit gamma radiation.
Effect of the soils pollution
• 1. Impact on Agricultural Productivity:
• Soil pollution can hinder the growth of crops and
reduce agricultural productivity.
1. And even kill newly planted plants, leading to
reduced crop yields( Faal).
• 2. Water Contamination
I. Pollutants in the soil can leach into groundwater,
rivers, and lakes, contaminating water sources. This
can affect aquatic life and make water unsafe for
consumption by humans and animals.
 Disruption of Water Cycle
Ecosystem Disruption
 Soil pollution can disrupt ecosystems by harming soil-dwelling (khannu)
organisms, such as earthworms and microorganisms, which play crucial
roles in cycling soil .

Loss of Biodiversity
 Deforestation leads to the destruction of habitats for countless plant (yeast,
mushroom) and animal species ( Red Ant, frogs ) , resulting in a loss of
biodiversity.

 RED ANT ( which builds his house inside the soils).

Human Health
 Pollutants can enter our bodies through contaminated food and water, or direct
contact with soi l. This can lead to a large range of health problems.
•controls of the soils pollution

• Reducing the chemical fertilizers( Urea, Potash ) and pesticide .

• Organic farming : Use of the biofertilizers( compost maal) and manure .
• Use 3 r’s techniques : Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. (eg.plastics)
• Medical wastes should be properly treated by physicals ,chemicals and
biological methods. ( eg. Surgical organs, unused blood ).
• Agricultural wastes should be used for dumping of discarded materials
and used to recycle process.
• Using earthworms to improve soil fertility and replace chemical fertilizers
like urea is known as vermicompost
Save the environment by planting tree .
Thank You !!!
