• Summary
CHARACTERISTICS OF SERIES LCR CIRCUITS

• Series LCR circuits are composed of an inductor, capacitor, and resistor

connected in series. In this circuit, the current is the same throughout the
components and the voltage is split among them.
• The current in the circuit is the same throughout the components, and the
voltage is split among them. This means that the impedance of the circuit is
determined by the sum of the impedances of the components.
CHARACTERISTICS OF PARALLEL LCR
CIRCUITS

• Parallel LCR circuits are composed of an inductor, capacitor, and resistor

connected in parallel. In this circuit, the voltage is the same throughout the
components and the current is split among them.
• The voltage in the circuit is the same throughout the components, and the
current is split among them. This means that the admittance of the circuit is
determined by the sum of the admittances of the components.
IMPEDANCE AND ADMITTANCE

• Impedance is a measure of the opposition of a circuit to the flow

of current, while admittance is a measure of the ease with which
a circuit allows current to flow.
• Impedance is affected by frequency and phase, while admittance
is affected by capacitance and inductance.
SERIES RESONANCE

• Series resonance occurs when the inductive and capacitive reactances of a

circuit are equal and opposite, resulting in a maximum current flow through
the circuit.
• The frequency at which series resonance occurs is determined by the
inductance and capacitance of the circuit, and is known as the resonant
frequency.
PARALLEL RESONANCE

• Parallel resonance occurs when the inductive and capacitive reactances of a

circuit are equal and opposite, resulting in a maximum voltage across the
circuit.
• The frequency at which parallel resonance occurs is determined by the
inductance and capacitance of the circuit, and is known as the resonant
frequency.
SUMMARY

• Series and parallel LCR circuits have different characteristics and are
affected by different parameters. Series circuits have a higher impedance and
parallel circuits have a higher admittance.
• Series and parallel resonance occur when the inductive and capacitive
reactances are equal and opposite. The frequency of resonance is determined
by the inductance and capacitance of the circuit.
