INTRODUCTION

Technology integration into education has played an influential and prominent

role in developing sustainable tutoring systems.

Technology is progressing rapidly, and as more advanced technologies become

available, more problems can be resolved with ease as a result, resolving the
issue of university attendance is one of them.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

Observing the current system, numerous issues have been

discovered, and these have led to research :

The perpetual time-consumption of the conventional process

The tediousness of the traditional procedure

Lack of accuracy in computing the attendance sheet

Prone to excessive fraudulent practices from students.

AIM

To develop a smart attendance management system with

Geolocation tracking technologies for efficient university learning

management
OBJECTIVES
 Investigating and implementing Geolocation tracking and distance measuring

technology to accurately track and measure the locations of users.

 Design an interactive and user-friendly web portal for all users to mark,

monitor and print attendance.

 Ensuring safety measures in the application

 Ensure accessibility across several mobile platforms

 Data interpretation of the result

SCOPE OF STUDY

Design an effective smart proximity attendance management system solution

for implementation in the Systems Engineering department at UNILAG:

1.Reviewing several traditional and manual attendance systems

2.Analysing them and their limitations to determine the most effective ones

3.Designing a system that incorporates proximity tracking to web-based

solutions.

The need for all in multimodal approach
 Easy vandalization and manipulation by student

 High Cost of Hardware Infrastructure

 High cost of maintenance and deployment

 Poor data collation

 Poor maintenance

 Time wasting

 Security breaches
METHODOLOGY
The use of geolocation tracking distance calculation, mobile verification (token

security) and attendance data analysis was selected for a few reasons :

 A robust Geolocation framework to provide suitable student identification

 Easy to scale to faculty and University Level

 Eliminate attendance malpractice or impersonation.

TOOLS USED

FRONT END BACKEND

Frontend Backend Python

HTML Server Django

Preferred Installer
Program
CSS Database (PIP)

JavaScript My SQL

Bootstrap
The Web Navigation API and Python Library

Collects the location of both staff and

student

Distance between the two locations is

measured and a specified maximum

distance is given.
Major tasks

The application has three main users: The HOD, the Lecturer and

the student
ADMIN Create HOD account
HOD Create staff account
HOD Create student account

HOD Add session

HOD Add Levels

HOD Create Subjects

HOD Assign Subjects to staff

STAFF Lecturer can access subject For every Lecture

STUDENT Students register that subject

STAFF Lecturer starts class Geolocation

Mobile Verification

 When a student account has been created by the HOD, the student can log

in on any device they choose for the first time

 a token is stored on the phone’s local storage for that account at the

application backend

 The student must then ensure that he always uses that phone and that web

browser to ensure he/she is granted access to the application.

 Failure to comply with this means they woild not be able to

login

 They would have to go to the HOD or admin staff to grant

them access again

CONCLUSION

 This project developed a modern web application for managing and tracking student
attendance.

 The designed system successfully integrated Geolocation distance measurement, mobile

verification technology and data analysis for secured and digital online attendance
management.

 This system is built to handle scalability and serve as a significant upgrade to the current
manual attendance system
RECOMMENDATION

For future works on this project, several other technologies can

improve the functionalities and the overall performance of this
smart attendance:

 Virtual Assistant Incorporation

 Trend forecasting and predictive modelling

 Portable facial recognition for authentication

 System optimization
