Management Software.
Key Points:

• Enterprise information and organization breakdown structure.


• Project name and ID

• Resources rate, unit and its availability

OBS (Organizational Breakdown Structure)

• OBS is the hierarchical way to represent the manager responsible


for the projects in your enterprise.
• You can associate the responsible managers with their area of the
enterprise project structure (EPS) with either an EPS node or a
project.
EPS (Enterprise Project Structure)

• EPS represents the hierarchical structure of an organization.


• The EPS can be subdivided into as many levels or nodes as needed
to represent work at your organization.
• Nodes at the highest or root level might represent divisions within
your company.
• Nodes are divided according to the project phases, site locations,
or other major grouping that meet the needs of your organization.
What is project?

• A project is a set of activity & their associated information that


constitute a plan for creating a product and services.
• A project has a start date, finish date, WBS, Resource assignments
& expenses.
• It also include risks, work documents, project specific codes &
calendars.

Calendars

• The calendar is a primavera P6 are used for date calculations and


can also be used to specify how many hours or minutes in the time
periods of day, week, month or year worked.
• It is also used to specify non-working days.
Types of Calendars

1. Global Calendar:-
It can be assigned into any project, activity or resource.
2. Project Calendar:-
This type of calendar is used for any specific project and can be assigned
into that project activity and resource.
3. Resource Calendar:-
Resource calendar can only be assigned to resources.
Resource type calendar are also of two type personal calendar and shared
resource calendar.
WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)

• It is also a hierarchical structure.


• Primary major breakdown of projects into different parts are
called WBS.
• WBS is used to categorize activity into different segment.
• A project should be broken down into WBS on the basis of these
factors i.e., phase, stage, system, sub-system, process, discipline,
area or location of the work etc.
Activity

• Activities represent work to be done in order to complete a


project.
• It consist of some information i.e., start date, finish date,
duration, resources and its predecessor and successor.

• Task Dependent
• Resource Dependant
• Level of Effort
• WBS Summary
Relationship

• Any sort of connection between two activities is known as


relationship.
Types of Relationship:-
1. FS (Finish to Start)
2. SS (Start to Start)
3. FF (Finish to Finish)
4. SF (Start to Finish)
Scheduling

• After adding activity, duration and logics primavera calculate its


date and all these things.
• Start date, finish date, total float, free float etc.
Role and Resource

• Role and Resource are required to perform an activity, basically it


could be a person, material and machinery.
• Role is a job title or skill to perform an activity.
• Resource is any person, machine or material.
Resource Lag & Resource Duration

• Resource lag:-
a) It is the gap between start of an activity and starting of
resource.
b) It is used to distribute work between resource which cannot work
or available at some time.
• Resource Duration:-
a) This is the duration for which resource will be used.
b) It is not necessary to use resource for whole length of activity.
Progress and Update

• When activity status updated and scheduled as per the current


date, as mentioned in the image Gannt chart will update the
progress and difference between baseline and actual.
Baseline

• Baseline is the copy of project with relation and other data.


• Baseline is used to compare progress of project with respect to
planned (baseline).
