INTRODUCCION

INTRODUCCION

The Aztec Empire, also known as the Triple Alliance, was a powerful Mesoamerican civilization that thrived in present-day Mexico
from the 14th to the early 16th century. Founded by the Mexica people, the Aztecs built a highly organized society in the Valley of
Mexico, with their capital, Tenochtitlan, located in what is now Mexico City.

The Aztecs were known for their achievements in engineering, architecture, agriculture, and sophisticated religious practices. They
constructed impressive temples, canals, and urban structures. Their economy relied on agriculture, trade, and tributes collected from
conquered regions.

While the Aztecs were noted for their cultural accomplishments, they were also associated with military expansion and the conquest
of neighboring territories. This was achieved through strategic alliances and advanced military tactics.

However, their dominion was short-lived. In 1519, the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés arrived on the Gulf coast, marking the
beginning of the collapse of the Aztec Empire. After a series of conflicts, Tenochtitlan was ultimately captured and destroyed in
1521, leading to the subjugation of the Aztecs and the establishment of the Spanish colony of New Spain in the territory.

The history of the Aztec Empire is a fascinating chapter in the history of Mesoamerica and left a lasting legacy in the culture and
heritage of Mexico.
