is.
The value is determined by multiplying the digit by its place
value.
The number 1,436:
digit 1 is in the thousands place, so digit 1 has a value of
1000.
digit 4 is in the hundreds place, so digit 4 has a value of
400.
digit 3 is in the tens place, so digit 3 has a value of 30.
the digit 6 is in the ones place, so the digit 6 has a value
of 6.
