How Job Components Work Together
• Cabinet Analogy
– The job family groups are the file cabinets
– The job families are the file drawers
– The job profiles are the file folders
– A file (job profile) can belong to more than one
drawer (job family) but a drawer (job family) can only
belong to one cabinet (job family group)

– Job Catalog Report: This report offers a consolidated overview of job
family groups, job families and job profiles, including the assigned job
codes, management levels and job classification groups of each job
profile.
– Directory by Job Profile Report: This report lists all workers assigned
to a specific job profile. There is also a Directory by Job Family and Job
Family group.
Job Profile Concepts
• Jobs are based on Job Profiles which enable you to describe
general characteristics of a job and to identify special skills,
training, or other qualifications for that job.
• Job Profiles are not specific to any supervisory organization
and are used tenant-wide.
– For example, you can use the Job Profile Administrative
Assistant in any supervisory organization that might need that
function.
• Job profiles can also be used as criteria in condition and
eligibility rules.
– Compensation rules to generate compensation packages
– Membership rules to create benefit eligibility rules.
– Condition rules for business process routings

Job profiles can be created and used for multiple positions.

Job Profile Details - Overview
Job Profile Name
– If the Job Title Default is blank, this name is used to populate the business title during
staffing events.
– You can override the business title when you staff the job or position.
• Job Code
• Include Job Code in Name
– Select this check box if you want to display the job code as part of the job profile name
• Job Profile Summary
• Job Title Default
– In staffing events that hire, transfer, or promote employees into this job profile, the
business title defaults from this value. You can override the default title when you staff
the job or position.

Job Profile Details - Overview
Management Level
– A hierarchy that designates management levels such as manager, vice president, and so forth
– You can only have one enforced at a time – and this is indicated within Tenant Setup
– Management levels can be used for:
• Reporting
• Rules
• Business workflow
• Job Based Security Groups
• Job Level
– You can define job level hierarchies to categorize job profiles based on factors such as the level
of education, experience, or training required to perform a job.
– Examples: Professional I, Professional II, etc.
• Job Family
– Assign a job family to group related job profiles. The job profile may be assigned to more than
one job family,
• Job Category
– Assign a Job Category to a job profile
– Examples: Direct Labor, Indirect Labor

Job Profile Details - Overview
Job Classification
– May be configured by Country/Region
– Can assign more than one job classification per job profile
– Will be assigned during staffing events based on location of worker and cannot be overwritten
– Additional job classification groups may be added during a staffing event
– Examples: AAP Goals, EEO-1, EEO-1 Groups, Worker Status
• Company Insider Type
– Defaults from job profile to the worker, but can be changed by editing the worker's position
• Work Shift Required
– Can be defined as “required” on the job profile by Country/Region
– If you select this option, you must specify a work shift for any worker hired, transferred, or
promoted into a job or position based on this job profile.
• Public Job
– Select this check box to make the job profile available for selection as a job interest.
• Used in Talent Management
Job Profile Details - Metrics
• Difficulty to Fill
– Specify the difficulty to fill the job profile
• Critical Job
– Indicate whether it is a critical job
Job Profile Details - Compensation
 Create Benchmark Job
– You can manually enter market salary data
– Includes Effective Date, Survey Date, Competitive Market Target, Target
Spread, etc.
 Compensation Grade
– You can tie a compensation grade directly to a job profile instead of
having to use an eligibility rule.
 Impacted Eligibility Rules
– The eligibility rules associated with the job profile will automatically
display.

• Pay Rate Types Job Profile Details - Pay
– You can assign country-specific pay rate types to a job profile.
– When you staff a job or position, the pay rate defaults to the employee based on the country of
the worker’s primary business address
– You can override the pay rate type that defaults from the job profile during a staffing event or
when editing jobs and positions.
• Job Exempt
– May be configured by Country or Country Region
– Assigned on the job profile and cannot be overwritten during staffing events
• Workers Compensation Codes
– May be configured by Country, Country Region, or Location
– Assigned on the job profile and cannot be overwritten during staffing events
Job Family Uses in Reporting
• Delivered Reports
– Job Catalog Report: This report offers a consolidated
overview of job family groups, job families, and job
profiles, including the assigned job codes, management
levels, and job classification groups of each job profile.
– Directory by Job Family Group Report: This report lists
all workers assigned to a specific job family group.
– Directory by Job Family Report: This report lists all
workers assigned to a specific job family.
– Directory by Job Profile Report: This report lists all
workers assigned to a specific job profile.
Job Relationship to Compensation Rules
• Job families and profiles can be used as criteria in
– Compensation selection rules to generate compensation
packages
– Benefit eligibility rules
• Compensation rules based on job profiles must be
maintained as job profiles are
changed/updated/added/etc.
• Compensation rules based on job families only
need to be maintained if a new compensation
grade is added
