Measurement D

(MG)
QUARTER 2 WEEK 1 Y
❑ What do we use to measure
things?
❑ Can we use things other
than rulers to measure?
Guess how many paper
clips long each object is.
Today you will learn to measure the length of
an object using non-standard units (e.g., how
many paper clips long is a pencil?) and
compare two or more objects by measuring
them with non-standard units and determine
which is longer or shorter.
Let us read the following words
aloud.
Now you will learn how to
measure objects using non-
standard units, specifically
paper clips.
GROUP WORK
Share your findings.
Which object was the
longest? Shortest?
I - Choose two
objects from the
classroom and
measure them using
paper clips. Record
their measurements
in your notebook.
II - Determine the
length of each
object based on
the given
measuring tool.
Length refers to the
measurement of how long an
object is.
We measure lengths using units
such as pins, eraser, paper clips,
and other things.
✔What did you learn about
measuring with non-standard
units?
✔Why it might be useful to
measure in this way?
✔Think about and draw other
things you could measure using
non-standard units at home.
I. Draw one object
and write how
many paper clips
long it is.
II. Measure 2 things inside your bag using other
non-standard units like crayons and compare
your findings.
Example:

1. What is the story about?
2. What did Albert use to
measure the shoe?
3. What else Albert uses to
measure things?
This time I want you to
measure the length of your
desks using your fingers and
your bag with your crayons.
Measure the height of a book
using the blocks and record
how many blocks tall it is.
Group Work:
Each group chooses an object in
the classroom to measure using
crayons.
Each group presents their findings
to the class, discussing the
differences in measurements and
why they might vary.
You learned that you can measure
things using objects around us, like
paper clips, blocks, or even your own
hands. These objects are called non-
standard units. You can count how
many of these units it takes to
measure something. For example,
you might find that a pencil is 5
paper clips long.
Measuring with non-standard units
is a great way to understand the
concept of measurement. It helps
us realize that we can use different
objects to measure things. It's also
a fun and hands-on way to learn
about size and comparison.
Why is it fun to
measure with different
things?
We measure standard units to
get the length of objects and
to compare lengths of objects
Remember that different units
can give different results but
can still be useful.
I. Draw a picture of
something you
measured and write
one sentence
describing how you
measured it.
Example:
I measured my doll using
8 blocks.
II. Observe the pictures then answer each
question correctly.
Measuring Scavenger Hunt
Find items around your bedroom to
measure using different non-standard
units. Record your findings and
present it to the class next meeting.
ENJOY LEARNING!
GOD BLESS!
