CHAPTER 15 & 16
Introduction:This chapter provides a
blueprint for conducting business with
CHAPTER 15: Christian values. Ellen White
underlines that work is not separate
BUSINESS from faith; rather, it is a sphere in
PRINCIPLES which God’s character can be
reflected. Success in business comes
AND METHODS from applying principles of integrity,
justice, and service, rather than mere
pursuit of profit.
• 1. Honesty and Integrity:

• Quote: "Strict integrity in business is the work

of a true follower of Christ.“

• Ellen White emphasizes that business

dealings must reflect fairness and truth. This
principle is grounded in Proverbs 11:1, which
KEY THEMES states, "A false balance is an abomination to
the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.

• "Explanation: A "false balance" refers to

deceit in business, such as dishonesty in trade
or exploitation. A "just weight" symbolizes
honesty and equity, demonstrating that God
values transparency and fairness above
material gain.
KEY THEMES

• Faithfulness in Little Things:

• Scripture Reference: "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful
also in much" (Luke 16:10).
• Explanation: White highlights that success begins with faithfulness in
minor responsibilities. Neglecting small duties reflects a character
unprepared for larger tasks. A person who is faithful in minor dealings
earns trust and builds a foundation for enduring success.
KEY THEMES

Dependence on God:
Quote: “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich,
and He addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs
10:22).
• Explanation: This verse underscores that true
wealth comes from God’s blessing, not merely
human effort. Wealth gained dishonestly or
through greed often brings regret, guilt, or
harm, whereas God’s blessings enrich lives with
peace and satisfaction.
Service to Others:
• Business is not merely for personal
KEY THEMES enrichment but a ministry. By serving
others through fair practices and
providing value, business owners
reflect God’s love and care.
Professional Ethics:
Always prioritize
integrity over profit.
Avoid practices that
exploit or deceive.

Trust in God: Work

diligently, but remember
that ultimate success is APPLICATION
determined by God’s
guidance and blessing.

Service Orientation:
Treat business as a
ministry by uplifting
employees, customers,
and the community.
In this chapter, Ellen White examines
the lives of biblical figures to show
how their experiences of faith, trial,
CHAPTER 16 and victory are lessons for believers.
These stories demonstrate God’s
ability to transform ordinary people
into instruments of His divine purpose.
Faith and Obedience Lead to Victory:Example: Joshua and the walls of
Jericho.Scripture Reference: "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down"
(Hebrews 11:30).Explanation: The Israelites’ victory came not from
military strategy but from faith in God’s commands. Their silent march
around the city walls for seven days was an act of obedience and trust.
KEY THEMES White uses this to teach that when believers align their actions with
God’s will, He works in extraordinary ways.
THEMES

• The Discipline of Suffering:Example: Job’s endurance.

• Scripture Reference: "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away;
blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21).
• Explanation: Job’s unwavering faith amidst unimaginable loss and
suffering teaches resilience and trust in God’s overarching plan. Ellen
White emphasizes that trials refine character and deepen dependence
on God.
THEMES

• Courage and Perseverance:

• Example: Moses’ leadership.
• Scripture Reference: "They that wait upon the
Lord shall renew their strength" (Isaiah 40:31).
• Explanation: Moses spent 40 years in the
wilderness before leading Israel out of Egypt.
His journey illustrates how patience and
reliance on God prepare individuals for
significant roles. Ellen White encourages
believers to trust in God’s timing and process.
• The Testing of Character:White points to
figures like Joseph, who endured betrayal and
imprisonment but remained faithful. His trials
positioned him to save Egypt and his family.
These biographies teach that God often uses THEMES
adversity to prepare His servants for
greatness.
• Application:Personal Growth:
Understand that trials are not
punishments but opportunities for
refinement. Trust God’s purpose
even in difficult times.Faith in Action:

APPLICATION Like Joshua, act in faith even when

God’s instructions seem
unconventional.Character
Development: Learn perseverance
from figures like Job and Joseph,
allowing God to mold your life for
His glory.
