Introduction of transformer

 A distribution transformer is an electrical device that steps down high-voltage

electricity from the transmission network to a lower voltage suitable for use by
consumers. It is an essential component in electrical power distribution systems,
ensuring that electricity is delivered at a voltage level safe and usable for
residential, commercial, and small industrial applications.
Types of transformer

1. Step up transformer.
2. Step down transformer.
3. Distribution transformer.
4. Power transformer.
5. Current transformer.
6. Voltage transformer.
Components of transformer
Parts of transformer

 Winding :
 Generally their are two types of
windings and material use in winding
are copper or aluminum.
 Types of winding:
1. Primary or High voltage winding.
2. Secondary or low voltage winding.

 Core :  Conservator
 The core shown in fig is made of Silicon steel with  The function of the conservator is to provide

insulating oil.
 The oil level indicator indicates tha oil level .
 Oil level should not fall below the alarm limit
Testing
 Megger Test.
 High voltage Test.
 Turn ratio Test.
 Temperature Test.

Repairing of transformer
 Isolation and De- energization :-  Insulation testing and drying :-
For safety reasons, the transformer needs to be After components are repaired or replaced the

insulators may need to be repaired or replaced.
Rewinding a transformer is a complex process that
requires skilled technicians and specialized
equipment.
Connections of transformer

 Star connection:  Delta connection:

In a star connection, the system has a In a delta connection there is no
neutral wire and the line voltage is root neutral wire and the line voltage is
three times the phase voltage. It is a equal to the phase voltage it is
balanced circuit connection. commonly an unbalanced circuit
connection .
Safety rules
 - 5 safety rules for transformer installation
1) Engage a certified electrical engineering provide for the installation.
2) Ensure correct selection of nominal power.
3) check the load’s power factor.
4) check the input output voltage as per the lines maximum load.
5) Install adequate ventilation for tha transformer.
Conclusion
 By this industry training we learn about transformer and the assembling and dismantling
Process of transformer and made how transformer are repaired and learn about the parts of
transformer and learn the complete information of the industry and we have very great
experience of training.
