All preparations must be ready in Week 13
Instructions
Group work: A report, a video and a presentation
The report includes the following sections:
1. Description: Overview of the project
2. Problems & Solutions: Technical and translation constraints and your
relevant techniques (cite the authors related the solutions)
3. Wrap-up: Your evaluation of project effectiveness
The presentation (15 minutes) highlights key content
The report + video must give full credit to the writers and creators

Instructions
Topic 1: English subtitling + Voice-over
Target audience: 13 general viewers

Task:
 Select a short science or technology clip on TED Talk.
 Translate the script into Vietnamese.
 Do the English subtitling and Vietnamese voice-over to help the
audience double-check and grasp the content accurately.
Requirements:
 Translate the terminology accurately.
 Add the translator’s explanations where necessary.
Instructions
Topic 2: Audio description
Target audience: children
Task:
 Select a popular cartoon or children’s movie in English.
 Cut some major scenes (< 10 minutes).
 Write the narrative in Vietnamese using descriptive language to
summarize the plot vividly.
 Do the voice-over narration.
Requirements:
Use simple and educational language to suit the register.
Be inspiring voice actors/narrator.

Topic 3: Audio description
Target audience: 13 , including vision-impaired ones

Task:
 Select an award-winning silent movie in English (<10 mins).
 Write the narrative in Vietnamese using descriptive language to
narrate the plot vividly.
 Do the dubbing.
Requirements:
Use language devices where necessary to interpret the
implications.
Be inspiring voice actors/dubber.

Topic 4: Voice-over + Subtitling
Target audience: 13 general viewers

Task:
 Select a meeting in the news in English.
 Write the summary using journalistic language to report the meeting.
 Do the voice-over and subtitling for general viewers.
Requirements:
 Translate key messages delivered by major speakers and do voice-over
for these texts.
 Report the content comprehensively.
 Be coherent and clear journalistic reporters.

Topic 5: news anchoring + Subtitling
Target audience: 13 general viewers

Task:
 Select a news anchoring script + video clip in English.
 Translate the script.
 Report the news as a Vietnamese news anchor.
Requirements:
 Report the news content comprehensively.
 Images of the news anchor and scenes are displayed alternatively.
Instructions
Topic 6: Subtitling
Target audience: 13 general viewers

Task:
 Select a popular rap song in English.
 Translate the lyrics.
 Do the subtitling.
Requirements:
 Translate at least FIVE items (rhyme schemes, puns, idioms,
cultural references) with strict rhythmic and cultural conversions
 Tone down the messages where necessary.

Topic 7: Voice acting + Subtitling
Target audience: Children
Task:
 Select a short children’s story in English.
 Translate or summarize the plot in Vietnamese.
 Make a cartoon movie with the voice-over/dubbing and subtitling to
reach general viewers.
Requirements:
 Use simple and educational language to suit the register/readership
 Be inspiring voice actors
