2. How are National days different from Religious festivals?


Ans- National days are celebrated throughout the country.
Where as Religious festivals are special days celebrated by people belonging to
different religion in different ways.
3. How do we celebrate the following festival- Diwali, Eid-ul-fitr , Christmas and
Gurupurb?
Ans- Diwali- On this day people decorate their houses with diyas , rangoli , lights and candles . Some
people burst crackers. People also worship Lakshmi ,the goddess of wealth at home.

Eid-Ul-Fitr- People offer namaz at mosque. They embrace and wish each other ‘Eid Mubarak’. A
special sweet dish called ’Sewain’ is prepared on this day.

Christmas-At midnight, on Christmas, special prayers take place in churches. People decorate
Christmas tree and bake cakes on this festival. Children receive gifts from Santa Claus on this day.

Gurupurb- The Sikhs take out huge processions in towns and cities on this day.They go to guruwaras
to offer prayers and hold langars, where free meals are given to all. The holy book of the Sikhs called
Guru Granth Sahib is read on tis day.
4.What is a harvest festival ? Why do you think every region has its own
harvest festival? Describe any two.
Ans- Harvest festivals celebrate the harvesting, or the gathering, of crops.
Evert region has its own harvest festival because agricultural practices, climates,
and cultural traditional vary widely around the country. Different crops are
growth in different regions, and the timing of harvest varies. Two famous
Indian harvest festivals are- (own answer)
