5 Using line, arc, rectangle, circle, ellipse & polygon,so many drawing of different type can be made
WHAT IS COMMAND
OBJECT SNAP: The object snap mode command is used to specify a precise
location on the objects. It displays the points on the objects such as midpoints,
centerpoint, insertion point, endpoint, etc. The functional key is F3
RECTANGLE:Creates a rectangular
cvc polyline

MODIFYING COMMANDS TRIM
FILLET ERASE
1.Erase: This command removes objects from a drawing. COPY
MOVE
2.Move: This command displaces objects to a specified
distance in a specified direction.
3.Copy: This command is similar to move command, but it
places copies of the related object at the specified
displacements.
4.Mirror: This command creates a mirror image of objects.
5.Array: This command creates multiple copies of objects
in Pattern.
6.Trim: This command trims objects at a cutting edge
defined by other objects.
7.Fillet:This command is used to create rounded edges
between the adjacent lines in 2D & 3D.
8.Offset:This command creates circle,parallel line,
parallel curves. MIRROR ARRAY

DRAWING UNITS
TO SET THE DRAWING UNITS:
i.Click Right side of mouse.
ii.Type UN + Enter key.
iii. Then a pop window will appear.
iv.Click OK
The dimension style manager creates new styles, set the current
styles, set override on the current style and compare styles.
STYLE
MANAGER
LAYER PROPERTIES
1. The Layer command is used to control and manage the drawings in
AutoCAD for different purposes.
3. It creates many layers by specifying the name for the corresponding layer.
It can also control the order of the layers.
4. The shortcut command of the layer is LA. The Layer on the ribbon panel
looks like the given image
TO SET THE LAYER PROPERTIES
1.Type LA on the command line + Enter key.
2.A dialog box will appear.
3.Click on the New Layer icon on the top of the
dialog box.
4. A new layer will appear as given in 1st image.
5. Specify the name and colour. We can also
change linetype, Transperancy,etc according to
the requirements.
6. Lets create total 6 layers as shown in 2nd
image.
7. To create an object, specify the layer as the
current layer.
8. The objects will be created based on the
selected current layer.
9. To use all Layers in the drawing, keep
changing the current layer according to the
object.
The Match Properties command, as implied by the name, will
match the properties of objects to that of other objects, including
colour, layer.
HOW TO USED
1. Right click of mouse
MATCH
2. Write MA + Enter key or We can click direct on Match properties
shown as below.
PROPERTIE
3. Select source object will display
4. Click on the object with the properties.Example, Magenta line
S
5. Now, selection Destination object will appear and the Cursor looks
like painter brush.
6. Click on the object as the Destination Object.
7. Select the line that you want to copy the properties to.
8. Click and drag from right to left and select the remaining lines using
a crossing window.
ORTHOGRAPHIC
PROJECTION
An Orthographic Projection enables us to represent 3-D
object in 2-D.
An Orthographic Projection is a system of drawings that
represent different sides of an object.
These drawings are formed by projecting the edges of the
object perpendicular to the desired planes of projection.
Orthographic projections allow us to represent the shape of
an object using 2 or more views.
There are six principle views of orthographic projection are
shown in 1st figure.
The Standard views used in an orthographic projection are
the front, top, and right side views.
ANGLE OF ORTHOGRAPHIC
There are four angle of orthographic projection sequence used for common drawing.

ENGINEERING
DRAWINGS
An engineering drawing is a type of technical drawing that is used to convey
information about an object. A common use is to specify the geometry necessary for
the construction of a component and is called a detail drawing.
PLAN: The single line plan is developed in to a double line or solid plan. Length and
width of rooms are shown in the plan. Thickness of walls, width of doors, windows,
sunshades, steps etc. are shown in the plan. The parts of the structure above the
cutting plane are shown by dotted lines. Plinth projection is also shown in the plan.
ELEVATION: It shows the width and height of a structure. Front and side views are
drawn to give frontal and side look of the structures. The shapes of windows, doors,
verandah openings, sunshades and parapets are shown in true look.
SECTION: The structure is supposed so be cut by a vertical plane, and the view of the
cut-section is drawn, which is termed as a section. It shows height of rooms and
depth of foundations, type of roofs, floors, thickness of walls and plinth height etc.
CONCLUSION
AutoCAD is extensively used in the design activities. It
help to reduce the time to produce the drawings
needed in the work environment.CAD is important in
manufacturing as it automates the manufacturing
process thereby saving time, enery, cost and making
productions highly flexible.Overall, CAD is cheaper
tool than taking on a larger workforce to complete
drawing tasks.
