SOUND MAIL SYSTEM FOR

VISUALLY IMPAIRED

INTRODUCTION

 Communication is one of the main fields highly changed by Internet. E-mails are the most
dependable way of communication over Internet, for sending and receiving some important
information.
 But there is a certain norm for humans to access the Internet and the norm is we must be able to see.
But there are also differently able people in our society who are not gifted with what we have. There
are some visually impaired people or blind people who can’t see things and thus can’t see the
computer/mobile screen or keyboard.
 So, for the betterment of society and giving an equal status to such specially able people we have
come up with this project idea which provides the user with ability to send mails using voice
commands with minimal use of keyboard
EXISTING SYSTEM

Current email system does not provide any special aids to visually impaired
people, if they want to use email, they have to seek help from others, that is not
possible every time and may make them to feel dependent, due to all these
difficulties they are unable to access existing email system. So, in current
system they send mails without any assistance from others.
PROPOSED SYSTEM

The most important aspect that has been kept in mind while developing the proposed
system is accessibility. A system is said to be perfectly accessible only if it can be used
efficiently by all types of people whether able or disable. The current systems do not
provide this accessibility. Thus the system we are developing is completely different from
the current system. Unlike current system which emphasizes more on user friendliness of
normal users, our system focuses more on user friendliness of all types of people including
normal people visually impaired people as well as illiterate people. All operations will be
based on voice commands. This system will be perfectly accessible to all types of users as
it is just based on simple speech inputs and there is minimal use of keyboard.
OBJECTIVES

• Main objective of this application is to provide accessibility in email to


visually challenged people
• It makes formal communication easier to visually impaired people
• It reduces the use of mouse and keyboard
• It provides voice-based input and output
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

• HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
• A 64 bit environment
• At least, 250GB of free disk space and 16GB RAM
• SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT:
• OS : Windows
• Processor : i5
• IDE : Android studio
• Languages used : XML, JAVA
• Protocols used : SMTP,IMAP,POP
• APIs used: Text -to -speech and speech-to-text
LIMITATIONS:

• High internet connection required


• It is only applicable for Android
• It can only recognize English language with proper pronounciation
• It still has some minimal keyboard usage
FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS:

• It can be designed to give multiple language options


• Application can be made fully automated, complete elimination of keyboard
• It can be developed for ios
• Many features in G-Email can be added and automated
