• Mechanical seals are widely used in various industries to
prevent leakage of fluids in pumps, compressors, and
other rotating equipment. They consist of several
components that work together to create a seal and
maintain the integrity of the system.
FUNCTION
1. Stationary Face:
Also known as the primary ring or seat, the stationary face is the
non-rotating part of the mechanical seal. It is typically made of a
hard material such as carbon or ceramic and provides a sealing
surface against which the rotating face mates.
2. Rotating Face:
The rotating face, also called the mating ring or seal ring, is the
part of the mechanical seal that rotates with the shaft. It is
usually made of a softer material, such as carbon, and makes
contact with the stationary face to create a seal.
• Gland:
The gland is a housing or cavity that holds the mechanical seal in
place and provides a barrier between the process fluid and the
external environment. It prevents the leakage of fluid from the
system and often incorporates a means for flushing or lubricating
the seal faces.

• Quality assurance (QA) is any systematic process of
determining whether a product or service meets
specified requirements. QA establishes and maintains
set requirements for developing or manufacturing
reliable products.

• QC is responsible for the day-to-day control of quality within the
company.
• Inspection of Components
• Material Verification
• Dimensional Checks
• Leakage Testing

• Documentation and Traceability
CONTROL
• The process through which the standards are established and met
with standards is called control. This process consists of observing
our activity performance, comparing the performance with some
standard and then taking action if the observed performance is
significantly too different from the standards.
