What Is Civilization

Civilization, derived from the Latin word for citizen, refers to highly organized societies characterized by advanced knowledge in trade, government, arts, and science, often with written language. The earliest known civilizations emerged in Mesopotamia, Persia, and the Nile valley, where inhabitants developed cities, writing systems, and complex social structures. Asia Minor, corresponding to modern-day Turkey, is recognized as a significant region for the rise of major civilizations, including the Hittites who established city-states there.

What is civilization?

 The word "civilization"


comes from the Latin
word for townsman or
citizen, civis, and its
adjectival form, civilis.
To be "civilized"
essentially meant
being a townsman,
governed by the
constitution and legal
statutes of that
community

 Civilization is defined as: highly

the Inca civilization.
What is the first know society
 The earliest known civilizations (as
defined in the traditional sense) arose in
Mesopotamia between the Tigris and
Euphrates rivers in modern-day Iraq,
Persia in modern-day Iran, the Nile valley
of Egypt. The inhabitants of these areas
built cities, created writing systems,
learned to make pottery and use metals,
domesticated animals, and created
complex social structures with class
systems.
Location of the Asia minor
 Its name means
'Lesser Asia'. Asia
Minor is a region of
the ancient world
that corresponds
roughly to modern
day Turkey, and is
the area were
major civilization is
thought to begin.
Who were the empire builders
 The Hittites
conquered most of
the local people in
the Asia minor area
and set up city
states.
