aimed at promoting world peace and security through
international cooperation in education, the sciences, and
culture.

World war I

• World War I or the First World War, often abbreviated as


WWI or WW1, was a global war originating in Europe that
lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. The
Allies won World War I after four years of combat and the
deaths of some 8.5 million soldiers as a result of battle

• WW I was fought between the Allied Powers and the


Central Powers.
• The main members of the Allied Powers were France,
Russia, and Britain. The United States also fought on the
side of the Allies after 1917.
• The main members of the Central Powers were Germany,
Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria.
Results after formation of UNESCO

• Due to formation of UNESCO now there is no more War in


the world.
• But if a war breaks out then the Country which started the
war has to give the reason of breaking out of war.
• UNESCO is having members who have veto power any
member can use veto power like if china agrees and Russia
doesn’t then Russia can use veto power so all 5 countries
should be agreed before taking any decision

• The logo block of UNESCO should not be used alone.
A short text should always be featured on the right-hand
side of the dotted line which specifies what type of support
UNESCO has granted or what the concerned entity and
activity of UNESCO is.

• There are 2 type of Members in UNESCO Temporary and permanent.


• Permanent-China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and
the United States.
How many member are there in UN

• There are currently 193 members in UN and they all agree


to the laws of UN.
• UN always ensure that there is peace in the world.
• Due to UN now it’s peace inside the world but even after
formation of UN there has been wars.
• Even after UN there has been wars like the Kargil War.
How UNESCO helped the world?

• UNESCO works so that each child and citizen has


access to quality education. By promoting cultural
heritage and the equal dignity of all cultures, UNESCO
strengthens bonds among nations. ... UNESCO stands up
for freedom of expression, as a fundamental right and a key
condition for democracy and development.

Funding of UNESCO

• UNESCO activities are funded through a combination of


assessed contributions by member states to the regular
budget; voluntary contributions by member states,

provided by partners such as other U.N. entities, NGOs, and
the private sector.
First world heritage site

Tongariro National Park
• The World Heritage Committee added an additional criteria
for associative cultural values, and in 1993 Tongariro
National Park became the first property to be inscribed on
the World Heritage List under the revised criteria describing
cultural landscapes.
Country with most Heritage sites

• Italy is tied with China for the top spot. Italy and China are
tied for having the most UNESCO world heritage sites. In
total, there are 1,121 monuments listed in UNESCO sites,
across 167 countries.
