🌍 Investing in space is investing in our future! 🚀✨

Technological
Advancement
s
Space exploration pushes the boundaries of technology, leading to
breakthroughs in AI, robotics, and advanced materials. It has
revolutionized global communication through satellites, enabling GPS
and high-speed internet. Medical advancements like MRI,
telemedicine, and life-saving devices have emerged from space
research. Clean energy solutions, including efficient solar panels and
better batteries, owe their progress to space innovations. Investing in
space fuels technological growth, shaping a smarter and more
advanced future.

• Navigation & Communication – GPS, weather forecasting (ISRO &

NASA).
• Smart Materials – Memory foam, scratch-resistant lenses (Apollo).
• Energy & Tools – Lithium-ion batteries (ISRO), cordless tools (NASA).
• Healthcare & Water – Telemedicine (ISRO), water filtration (NASA).
• Daily Use Tech – Freeze-dried food, fire-resistant fabrics (Apollo).
MOXIE EXPERIMENT
The Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE) is a technology
demonstration on NASA's Perseverance rover. Its purpose is to:
• Produce oxygen from the carbon dioxide-rich Martian atmosphere.
• This is done through a process called solid oxide electrolysis.
• The experiment aims to prove that it's possible to generate oxygen on Mars, which
could be used for future human exploration, both for breathing and rocket propellant.
Economic
Growth
Space exploration boosts the economy by creating high-tech jobs and
fueling industries like telecom, energy, and transport. Satellites
enhance global commerce, banking, and logistics, improving business
efficiency. Spin-off innovations drive progress in healthcare, clean
energy, and everyday technology. A strong space sector opens new
markets and accelerates economic growth.

• NASA: Generates $71.2B/year, supporting 339,600 jobs and boosting

private space firms.
• ISRO: Adds $7B to India’s GDP, with a $40B projection by 2040, aiding key
industries.
• Global Impact: The $546B space industry drives telecom, GPS, and remote
sensing growth.
Planetary
Defense
Space exploration helps detect and prevent asteroid threats. NASA
and ISRO track space objects using satellites and telescopes, enabling
early warnings and countermeasures. Investing in planetary defense
ensures Earth’s safety against future cosmic hazards.

• DART (NASA): First mission to successfully change an asteroid’s trajectory.

• NEO Surveyor (NASA): Infrared telescope to detect hazardous asteroids.
• ATLAS (NASA & Partners): Early warning system for asteroid impacts.
• GOLD (ISRO): Planned mission to track near-Earth objects.
• B612 Foundation (Private): Works on asteroid detection and impact
prevention.
• Hera (ESA): Studies asteroid deflection techniques for future defense.
DART MISSION
The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission was a
NASA planetary defense demonstration. It successfully
impacted the asteroid Dimorphos, the moonlet of Didymos,
to alter its orbit. This test proved the kinetic impactor
technique as a viable method for potentially deflecting
asteroids that pose a threat to Earth.
Resource
Discovery
Space exploration enables mining of water, minerals, and rare metals
from asteroids, the Moon, and Mars. NASA and ISRO aim to harness
lunar water for future missions, while asteroid mining could reduce
Earth’s resource dependence. Space resources drive sustainability
and technological growth!

• ISRO’s Chandrayaan-1 was the first to confirm water on the Moon (2008),
paving the way for lunar mining.
• China’s Lunar Soil Tech can extract water from Moon soil, aiding future
colonies.
• Bennu Asteroid Samples reveal Earth-like minerals, hinting at asteroid
mining potential.
• Lunar Mining Prospects show the Moon holds water ice & helium-3, worth
billions.
OSIRIS-REx MISSION
OSIRIS-REx (Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith
Explorer) was a NASA mission that:
• Visited the near-Earth asteroid Bennu.
• Collected a sample of its regolith (surface material).
• Successfully returned the sample to Earth on September 24, 2023.
• Aims to provide insights into the early solar system and the origins of life.
