The ability to communicate effectively
is an essential skill in today's world. Communication is a dynamic process and how you can communicate can positively or negatively affect the relationship you have in your work and life. what is communication ??? Act or process of using words , sound signs or behaviours to express or exchange information or to express your ideas or thoughts to someone else . • How you say it -- tone of your voice • why you say it --- intention behind the message . • when you say it . • your body language .
Four Barriers to effective Communication .
1. Judging the other person 2. Not paying attention to the person you are talking to 3. Giving solution or unwanted advise 4. Avoiding the concern of others . Nine effective communication skill 1. Active listening -- listening twice as much as you speak , listen with concentration ,be alert and interested in other person .
2. Non verbal Communication - transmit information using
gestures , body language like tone of voice ,eye contact facial , expressions , silence and hand , arm , leg posture
3. Asking questions - it shows your interest in them , open
questions with what , how etc .closed questions with Did , Do , would etc .
4. Being clear and precise - less is more when it comes to
speaking and speak simple and plain English . 5.Clarifying and summarising - reflect back to clarify and summarise what you have heard from others . 6.Being Empathetic - having empathy for others is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another 7. Developing trust and support -it is about doing what you say ,you are going to do and building relationship on honesty and integrity . 8 . Being present - cultivate compassion and have a beginner’s mind
9. Provide feedback - Accept critical feedback and
provide constructive outputs .
There are Seven Cs of communication
1. Clear - Be clear about your goal and message while
writing or speaking 2. Concise - when you are concise in your communication , you stick to the point and keep it brief . Delete unnecessary adjectives or sentences do not be repetitive . 3. Concrete - when your message is concrete or solid your audience has a clear picture of what you are telling them .
4. Correct - correct communication fits your
audience. 5. Coherent - when your communication is coherent it is logical , all points are connected and relevant to the main topic.
