Introduction

IoT-Based Environmental Monitoring System is a project

designed to track and analyze critical environmental
parameters in real-time, such as temperature,
humidity, air quality, light intensity, soil moisture,
carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, water level and
atmospheric pressure. By utilizing IoT sensors and the
ESP32 microcontroller, this system collects data from
the surrounding environment andtransmits it to a cloud
platform. The data can be monitored remotely through
a web or mobile interface, “Giving users clear and
helpful information about the environment so they can
take the right
actions
Aim of this Project

This project aims to improve environmental awareness and

management, with applications in fields such as smart
agriculture, urban planning, and pollution control.
Working
1.Data Collection:Sensors like DHT22 (temperature and humidity),
MQ135 (air quality), BMP180 (pressure), and others continuously collect
environmental data.

2. Data Processing:The ESP32 microcontroller reads the sensor data and

processes it. The data is also displayed locally on an LCD screen.

3. Data Transmission:The ESP32 uses Wi-Fi to send the processed data to

a cloud platform, such as Firebase or AWS IoT, enabling real-time
monitoring.

4. Cloud Storage & Analysis:The cloud platform stores the data for
further analysis. Users can access the data remotely via a web dashboard
or mobile app.

5. Remote Monitoring:The real-time data can be viewed and analyzed

from anywhere, allowing for continuous tracking of environmental
conditions. Users can receive alerts if any parameter exceeds set limits.

Advantages

Real-time Monitoring: Continuous data collection for timely decisions.

Remote Access: Data accessible from anywhere via the cloud.
Automation: Reduces manual effort and increases efficiency.
Scalability : Easily add more sensors for extended monitoring.
 Cost Effective: Inexpensive compared to traditional systems.
Disadvantages

Internet Dependency: Requires stable internet for data

transmission.
Power Consumption: Needs constant power, challenging in
remote areas.
Maintenance: Requires regular maintenance of sensors for
accuracy.
 Initial Setup Cost: High upfront investment for
components.
Application

Air Quality: Checking pollution levels.

Weather: Tracking temperature, humidity, and
pressure.
Farming: Monitoring soil conditions.
Disasters: Detecting floods or earthquakes.
Energy: Saving power in homes and buildings.
 Water: Checking water quality.
Future Scope

Wider Use: The system could also be used for monitoring

pollution, smart city planning, and climate research.
Adding More Sensors: Expanding the system with sensors for
noise, UV, and water quality will make it useful in many more
areas.
 Energy Efficiency: Using solar or energy-efficient parts will
make the system more sustainable, especially in remote
locations
Conclusion

The IoT-Based Environmental Monitoring System tracks key environmental

factors in real-time, helping with smart farming, pollution control, and city
planning. Using IoT and cloud technology, it enables easy monitoring and data
analysis. With potential for AI integration, it can address real-world Callenges and
support sustainable solution.
