ABSTRACT
 IR sensor works on by using a select- light sensors to
detect a selected light wavelength in the infra-red (IR)
spectrum.
INTRODUCTION TO IR SENSOR
 An infrared sensor is a radiation-sensitive
optoelectronic component with a spectral sensitivity in
the infrared wavelength range 780 nm … 50 µm. IR
sensors are now widely used in motion detectors,
which are used in building services to switch on lamps
(or) in alarm systems to detect unwelcome guests.
EXISTING SYSTEM
The previous system of IR sensors involved using a pair
of IR LEDs (infrared light-emitting diodes) and a
photodiode. The IR LEDs would emit infrared light, and
the photodiode would detect any reflected light. By
measuring the intensity of the reflected light, the sensor
could determine the presence or absence of an object.
This basic principle is still widely used in IR sensor
technology today.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
IR sensors are used to detect the presence of
objects(or)people by emitting and detecting infrared
radiation. They can be used in various applications like
security systems, automatic doors, and even in remote
controls.

WORKING OF IR SENSOR

IR sensor works by emitting infrared light and then

detecting the reflection of that light. It consists of an
emitter and a receiver. The emitter sends out infrared
light, and if an object comes in the path of the emitted
light, it reflects the light back to the receiver. The receiver
then detects the reflected light and generates an electrical
signal. This signal can be processed by a microcontroller,
like Arduino, to perform certain actions based on the
presence or absence of the reflected infrared light.
COMPONENTS
 IR module
 Arduino
 IR emitter
 IR receiver
 Photodiode
DESCRIPTION OF REQUIRED COMPONENTS

1.IR Module: The IR Sensor Module or infrared sensor is a basic and most popular
sensor in electronics. It is used in wireless technology like remote controlling functions
and detection of surrounding objects/ obstacles. IR sensors mainly consist of an
Infrared LED and a Photodiode
2.Arduino:Arduino is a software as well as hardware platform that helps in making
electronic projects.
3.IR TRANSMITTER: the transmitter sends the infrared light
4.IR RECEIVER: the receiver detects the reflected light and it’s generates electrical
signal
5.PHOTO DIODE: Photodiode can be used to detect the IR light
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

ADVANTAGES
 The IR sensor is a Low power consumption
 It is Simple to design
 IR signal s are undetectable To the human
 DISADVANTAGES
 The required line of sight
 Limited range, support A shorter Range
 The transmission Data rate Is Low
APPLICATIONS

 The IR sensor is used in motion detectors

 It used in remote controllers
 It is used in flame Detectors
CONCLUSION
 An IR sensor can measure the heat of an object as well
as detects the motion
FEATURES SCOPE
 IR sensor is an electronic device, that emits the light in
order to sense some object of the surroundings. An IR
sensor can measure the heat of an object as well as
detects the motion. Usually, in the infrared spectrum, all
the objects radiate some form of thermal radiation.
REFERENCE
 The IR sensor(or) infrared sensor, is a device that
detects and measures infrared radiation in its
surroundings. It uses infrared light to sense the
presence or proximity of objects. IR sensors are
commonly used in various applications such as motion
detection, distance measurement, and object
recognition. They are often found in electronic devices
like remote controls, security systems, and automation
systems.
