The 1980 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships were held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Organized by The Athletics Congress (TAC), the competition took place on February 29 and served as the national championships in indoor track and field for the United States.[1]

The championships were the first ever held by TAC, having been organized by the Amateur Athletic Union previously. At the competition, Eamonn Coghlan broke the U.S. all-comer's record for 3 miles. There was also a meeting held where 40 U.S. athletes voted unanimously against the United States boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics.[2]
