The Crown of Simón Bolívar is a civic crown, or corolla, presented to Simón Bolívar by the people of Cusco in 1825. Currently, the crown is exhibited in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Colombia in Bogotá.

History

Bolívar himself declined the crown and instead placed it on top of Antonio José de Sucre's head[citation needed].

Description

The most common aspect of the crown are the 47 gold laurel leaves which give the crown the appearance of a wreath, with 23 gold leaves on the right side, 22 on the left side and two in the center. Between

The crowns dimensions are 7.5 x 22 cm.[1]

The making of the crown is attributed to Native American goldsmith Chungapoma.[1]
