Meatpuppet accounts
Hi Lee. I hope you are doing good. I wanted to report some meatpuppet accounts as they are canvassing and rigging discussions, thus leading the discussions to nowhere. I'm writing to to instead writing in ANI, as there are multiple accounts. I just want to solve them one-by-one, instead of listing them which might create a confusion. Check whenever you are free. I will report one by one after your green signal. ❯❯❯ S A H A 19:04, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Regarding League assessment
I've just noticed that you reverted my edit here, which made me check other football league season articles. If trully said, I never paid attention to the league season assessment but I am actually quite surprised by the fact that, 95% of these pages are written as list article but still the assesssment done per article. My only request is to let me know about any discussion happened on this topic in past if you have any such in your knowledge. I did not find any in FOOTY. Thank you. Drat8sub (talk) 20:05, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Drat8sub - I have no idea if there has ever been a discussion on these articles, but they don't meet the list criteria. Lists are usually a compilation of something; rather than an overview of the subject. Some lists do start "list of", but not all. Feel free to bring this up at WT:FOOTY, but I fail to see how these are lists, unless the article was specifically on the fixture list, or a list of results. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 20:10, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. But, is not it exactly that, the compilation of stats and datas? Basically, what these pages consist: list of team and their grounds, list of coaches and players, list of top goal scorer or assists or clean sheets, hat-tricks, red card and list of best players per game. And a list of spectator at home ground. And except the lead, no prose required to describe any section. Anyway, I think the topic needs a thorough discussion at FOOTY. Drat8sub (talk) 21:08, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
- That doesn't mean it's a list - it just means it hasn't been expanded. By that logic, any stub is a list if it has a table in it Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:10, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Requesting assistance
Dear Lee Vilenski,
I'm writing to you because you are listed as a member of the Wikiproject Pro Wrestling.
Also, I'm in need of an opinion from an experienced editor, and your name is very familiar to me, although I'm not sure from where (probably RfA, RfA talk page or the noticeboards).
The thing is, Hartley Jackson recently went through an AfD that arose a lengthy of discussion.
I will try to summarize the problem below.
Jammo85 had asked me for assistance in find sources to a certain fact, and I did find some good sources, but we are still facing opposition from another user in Hartley Jackson and The Mighty Don't Kneel (TMDK).
I would thus like to ask your opinion on the matter.
We would like to state "Hartley Jackson was part of The Mighty Don't Kneel in 2015 and 2016."
I have found two sources from websites of official pro wrestling events (they are archived, please give it a few minutes to load):
- https://web.archive.org/web/20160502062934/https://wrestlerampage.wordpress.com/ which despite being wordpress, it was and still is the official website of the event
and Hartley appears on the TMDK side on both.
Also, there is also a listing of his appearances as TMDK here, which corroborates the above:
but this website is listed in one unofficial list of reliable sources as being Marginally reliable. Strictly used for match results and not other information. Takes user submissions but is reviewed by regional editors that verify all submissions before they are added to the database. The other party uses this against us, but I actually think it supports us, as we are actually only using results here. That is, we are not using the blog posts produced in cagematch (see [5]).

Advice for first articles?
Hi Mr. Vilenski. I'm hoping you may be able to help me regarding a few pro wrestling articles I've written for Wikipedia. The Copyediting Guild suggested I contact your Wikiproject or message specific members but I haven't had much luck.
I'm interested in trying to improve them to GA-class articles but I'm not sure how to go about this. I vaguely remember reading a Wikipedia page last year how they need to have a few "milestones" like DYK in order to meet GA or FA-class? Here's a few DYK ideas:
- One of the first wrestling programs to be syndicated throughout Canada
- It was the first promotion/tv program to use theme music for wrestlers
- Its promotional feud with Maple Leaf Wrestling ended up in the Canadian Supreme Court.
- Collision in Korea, a two-day interpromotional supercard co-hosted by New Japan Pro Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling, was the first-ever pro wrestling event held in North Korea and remains the most attended live event of all-time.
- Was one the first major "outlaw" promotions according to Jim Cornette
- Influenced by booker Jack Pfeffer, it was notorious for using parody "soundalike" wrestlers of the NWA and WWWF
- Bearcat Wright won the promotion's heavyweight championship from Killer Kowalski in 1961, becoming one of the first African-Americans to win a major singles title during the Territory-era
- They had a promotional war with the World Wide Wrestling Federation over the New England wrestling territory during the 1960s
- They opened one of the first wrestling schools in the country which produced Les Thatcher, Pat Patterson, Luke Graham, Rufus R. Jones, and Carlos Colon
- It was considered a "safe" territory for GLBT wrestlers and Ron Dupree was able to live openly with his partner [6]
- The promotion featured a wrestling bear called Black Ozzie which later escaped shortly after being sold by Tony Santos. The promoter joined in a police search and was able to subdue the bear by putting sugar in its mouth.
- While napping in the locker room, Jack Pfefer was once thrown out of the Boston Arena by a rookie wrestler who mistook him for a homeless man who had wandered in off the street
- Frankie Scarpa, then a longtime regional star, competed with the up-and-coming Bruno Sammartino for the Italian-American fans in Boston during the 1960s
- The promotion closed after its main star Frankie Scarpa died in the ring in 1969.
- Was the first wrestling territory for Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, Kamala and Percy Pringle
- The birthplace of The Fabulous Freebirds
- Waged a two-year promotional war against NWA Tri-State over the National Wrestling Alliance's Mid-South territory
- Filed an anti-trust lawsuit as part of their campaign against the NWA
- In his role as ICW's booker, Grizzly Smith was allegedly paid by Bill Watts to purposely sabotage their shows
- ICW's television series was lost in a studio fire in 1986
- Was created after Yvon Robert was stripped of the AWA World Heavyweight Championship for refusing to wrestle Lou Thesz
- In 1995, The Ultimate Warrior agreed to make an appearance for the company after nearly three years in self-imposed exile
- Formed a partnership which included jointly promoting Warrior University. Warrior's abrupt departure weeks later, and his erratic behavior leading up to their debut event, is blamed for causing the NWC's first bankruptcy
- Its controversial KKK angle was the basis of an episode of the Netflix series GLOW
- During one NWC show, Cactus Jack piledrove Sabu onto a blackjack table at the Silver Nugget Casino
- Pioneered the use of the internet to promote itself and interact with wrestling fans across the country using AOL Chat
- It was the first show in Hawaii to gross over $100,000 and remained the state's highest-attended pro wrestling event during the 1980s wrestling boom.
- Was among the lowest drawing supercards of the 1980s wrestling boom and is partially blamed for the promotions close
Some other questions/minor issues:
- I'm guessing I should cut back on a lot of the quotes I've used. Would you have any suggestions of what should be removed and how much?
- One of the citations for Superstars of Wrestling (Canadian TV series) was removed as an unreliable source. Does that mean I should avoid citing Vern May (Vance Nevada)? I ask as he doesn't appear on WP:PW's approved sources page and I've used a few of his SLAM! Wrestling articles to source Draft:World Heavyweight Championship (Montreal version).
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Requested articles/Translating Japanese Wikipedia is mostly finished but I've hit a roadblock trying to translate tv shows and misc. topics. Is there someone you could suggest that might be able to help with accurate translations?
- I have attendance record lists for Mexican and Puerto Rican wrestling shows but I'm having trouble finding English-language references for the attendance numbers.
Thanks. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 18:51, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi IP user, you've given me a lot here, but it might be more prudent to narrow down the request to one or two articles that I can give you help with, rather than a long list. Might I suggest if you are interested in GA/DYK that you register an account? This would be mainly for the ability to ping you to responses. Especially at GA, where users check to see if the nominator is active before posting a review of an article, this would be more difficult on an IP, especially if it changes over time.
- Second - no, GA and FA articles do not need to be at DYK first. In fact, it's impossible for some articles to meet this. You should push for a DYK on an article that is suitable (one you can expand 5x) and that you have interest in appearing on the main page. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:58, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Sorry I didn't intend to post such a long message. Appreciate the quick reply. Unfortunately, my internet access is very limited. I was really just hoping for some feedback from Wikipedians on any of the articles I've submitted, as I'm not a professional writer, and was curious how much work would be needed to bring it up to a GA-class article. I'm still not very familiar using the website and I'd like to make sure they meet the standards of your Wikiproject's style guide. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 16:31, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

The Masters
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
I went to the Snooker talkpage with two clear references from World Snooker, the WST that clearly states the name of the tournament is "The Masters". Now as the WST runs and administrates the professional snooker tour it is official. So who or what gives you the right to undo my edits ?. 92.251.160.137 (talk) 20:40, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Making an edit to a series of articles against consensus is disruptive. As an entity, Wikipedia cares little for what "official" sources say about an subject, rather what WP:SECONDARY sources say. Please read the comments by Nigej, who is spot on the money. If you continue to make disruptive edits, you will get a block. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 20:49, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
So what you are saying Lee is that you don't care what World Snooker say or call an event because it is up to you and Nigej to decide what you want to call it on here. Is that right ? 92.251.160.137 (talk) 21:04, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
The question was asked if it was pointed out with two references from the WST the official governing body that the name of the event is called "The Masters" why do you need people's opinions on something that is official and is a fact ?. It makes no sense 92.251.160.137 (talk) 21:00, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
