Misc. Notes Copyright date on page 4 of Sonata 1 has been made unreadable but seems to say 185? with the last digit blotted out (!). HMB suggests 1853 or 1854 if first edition (consistent with 1853 and 1854 on the other two sonatas from this same source and sequence of plates); HMB also mentions a reissue later in the 1850s (1859) by Schuberth but the plate number (if new plates) would be higher than the 2000s most likely. (The 2000s already suggest a date around 1855 or 1856, oddly, rather than 1854.) Sonatas 2 and 3 have clear copyright dates (1853 and 1854).
