I was wondering... should this category be "Alkan, CharleszValentin" or is "Alkan, Charles Valentin" also acceptable? I can do a mass-replace directly in the MySQL database if the former should be used (editing them by hand is probably too needlessly time consuming)... --Feldmahler 00:47, 6 January 2007 (EST)
Most of the files are downloaded form http://alkan.assos.free.fr/alkan/04_partitions_en.html (I'm its webmaster). I'll try to add on IMSLP the files I will add on alkan.assos.free.fr. Continue the good job. Sylvain Chosson
Does anyone know if all the opus numbers currently blank on Alkan's work list were actually used or were they just skipped over? Every resource I've come across on the internet has always left out Op. #'s 6,7,9,11,14,18,19,20,28,36,43,44,48,49,56,58,59,62,68,71, & 73. If he didn't actually use these than we can go ahead and put "Opus not used" in the blanks to make it more clear, and it would also mean we're getting pretty close to having his complete works collected here.--Mitch 02:01, 9 June 2007 (EDT)
Although he's sometimes listed as Charles-Valentin-Henri Alkan, the Library of Congress cites an e-mail from the Alkan Society as giving the following information: "Henri" is defnitively wrong--not on his birth certificate and he never used "Henri" on any occasion". I've left it out of the list of alternate names, so as not to perpetuate this error — P.davydov 07:31, 3 May 2009 (EDT)
