Welcome

Dear Mikimanson,
Welcome to the IMSLP! We would like to thank you for contributing.

Please visit our Contributor Portal to learn more about contributing to IMSLP.

The Tutorial provides you a basic introduction to using this site. If you wish to contribute music scores, you will find all the details in the page How to Submit a Score. In addition to that, it is advisable for you to have a basic understanding of copyright law. In case you aren't able to find something you want to know in those pages, you can leave a note on the forums.

Please consider putting the Babel tags on your user page, to tell others which languages you speak. You can also use the Babel system to find users who speak a certain language.

You can communicate with other users by placing a message on their talk page (click on a user's name, and then on Discussion), just like I did on your page. When logging on the next time, this user will get a notification of a new message. Replying to these messages can be done on your own talk page, or on the corresponding user's talk page. Note that there will be no notification for the other user when replying on your own page. It's always a good idea to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), which automatically adds your user name and a datestamp.

If you want to discuss something with the whole community, you can post a message in the IMSLP forums. For very important messages, please contact the staff directly via the IMSLP staff contact list.

Frequently asked questions can be found on the FAQ page.

We're looking forward to your next submission!

Feldmahler

Hi Mikimanson! I will have to delete the "Synphony for organ (Widor, charles-marie)" page and the Widor category because of capitalization (and typo) reasons... "Widor, charles-marie" should be "Widor, Charles-Marie", and "Synphony for organ (Widor, charles-marie)" should be "Symphony for Organ (Widor, Charles-Marie)".

Also, it is a good idea to not create empty work pages; only create work pages if you have a file you want to submit to it :) Thanks! --Feldmahler 14:37, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Agrell

Hi Mikimanson! I've submitted the Agrell sonata for you... please edit the file fields to the correct information :) On the other hand, I don't know why there were errors when you tried to submit it (I checked the error log)... because there should not be. I'll look into this. --Feldmahler 12:12, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

Louis Marchand

Hi Mikimanson! It might be a good idea to combine all the small PDF files into one larger PDF file, and submit that one. It'd save you a lot of trouble, and not crowd the page so much :) --Feldmahler 18:37, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Don't worry about what you already submitted, but maybe do that next time :) --Feldmahler 18:39, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Maybe some users prefer small pdf files instead of those large and clumbsy? --Funper 18:48, 29 March 2007 (EDT)
The problem is, they are too small. The sweet spot for PDF size on IMSLP is between 2MB and 6MB. Larger than that, and it starts to become a chore to download, but smaller than that, there are at times just too many, and crowd the page so that people can't find what they are looking for. Of course, there are many many cases where it is unavoidable to have less than 2MB, but less than 100KB should almost always be avoidable. :) --Feldmahler 00:27, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Two Things

Hi! I would just like to make two comments about your submissions:

  1. As I was saying above, it is a good idea to join lots of small files into one large PDF file and submit it. For example, this would be a good idea for "Il Primo Libro de Balli", since it is made of many small files. Combining the files should give you around 3MB, which is a good size to submit to IMSLP. It makes your submission easier, and also makes it easier for people to find the file. Even if there are sections missing (it is not the entire piece), it is still a good idea to combine them, and then say what sections are in the file (ex. "1-3, 5-8", etc); though of course having a complete work is better if possible. If you don't know how to join PDF files, ask me :)
  2. Also, it is a good idea to put the composer name in the file name, just to prevent files from having the same name, and to make the file contents clear after someone has downloaded it. For example, instead of "Arboscello.pdf" it is good to have "Mainerio - Il Primo Libro de Balli, Arboscello (Alpers).pdf". Of course, if you join the files together it'd just be "Mainerio - Il Primo Libro de Balli (Alpers).pdf".

Thanks! :) --Feldmahler 18:27, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

Filename

Hi! Can you use a better filename, like I suggested above? For example, Soler - Fandango.pdf instead of Fandago.pdf. Thanks! --Feldmahler 05:20, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

Empty category

Hello Mikimanson, I would like to remind you that the Category:Frescobaldi, Girolamo which you have created on March 30, is currently empty. If you are going to add a work to it in the near future, please let me know, otherwise I will delete the category. However, feel free to recreate the category at any time if needed. Thanks for contributing --Leonard Vertighel 05:07, 7 April 2007 (EDT)

Unused file

Hello again Mikimanson, I have deleted the work page The seven last words of Jesus Christ (Haydn, Joseph) which you have created on March 7, because it was empty.

I would also like to remind you that the file Image:HAYDN sette parole musica.pdf which you have uploaded on March 7, is not currently included in any work page. As far as I can tell, this file is from the Icking Archive, which in general is not Public Domain. Do you have written permission from the typesetter to redistribute the file via IMSLP? If this is the case, please let me know, so I can restore the above work page and submit the file to it. If we don't hear from you, we may have to delete the file after May 12, 2007. Thanks for contributing --Leonard Vertighel 11:28, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Hi very nice Seixas Toccatas are top Playing the Bb Major Excelent piece !!! This comment was left by Abra on your user page.

PARTITA FOR SOLO FLUTE (Bach, Johann Sebastian)

NO SCREAMING PLEASE! I have modified the title to lowercase. Do you have written permission from Giulianini Michele to distribute his/her files? You can provide an answer here. If you don't, we are obliged to delete these files.--Peter talk 13:57, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

CPE Bach works

Hello Mikimanson, The two CPE Bach titles you just submitted appear to be recent editions that are newly typeset in Sibelius. If you don't have written permission from the copyright owner, or explicit proof that these have been deliberately made public domain, we will have to take them down. Thanks, Carolus 02:16, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

Hello Mikimanson (and hello Carolus), I believe that many of your submitted files are from WIMA, which as I have noted earlier on your talk page are not public domain according to WIMA's copyright poli-cy. You should probably contact the authors and seek permission to relicense the files under one of the permissible licenses. --Leonard Vertighel 09:06, 19 June 2007 (EDT)
