The Jennifer Lawrence-starring comedy No Hard Feelings now has a trailer. The Sony/Columbia pic, directed by Gene Stupnitsky from Good Boys and Bad Teacher fame, hits theaters June 23.
Like her previous film the intimate PTSD drama Causeway, which landed her co-star Brian Tyree Henry an Oscar nomination, Lawrence produces and stars in this one. But befitting the Stupnitsky DNA, this is a 180-degree turn for the Oscar winner.
She stars in the hard-edged comedy as Maddie, a woman who seems to have trouble making good life decisions. When she realizes she’s on the brink of losing her childhood home, she discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Feldman) before he leaves for college.
Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti play Percy’s parents, while Natalie Morales and Scott MacArthur are Maddie’s pals. The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach also stars.

Stupnitsky wrote he script with John Phillips; Sony picked up the rights in October 2021 in an auction for the package that had stiff competition. Judging from the trailer that dropped today, it looks like Lawrence dives in.
Alex Saks, Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, Lawrence and Justine Ciarrochi are producing. Phillips and Kerry Orent are executive producers.

The opening joke about the ‘weiner’ is really corny out of context. It works in the body of the trailer once you kinda know the premise, but to put it upfront makes it look like a CBS sitcom.
Oh yeah, sooooo edgy. Hollywood needs to look back at the 90s and 2000s if they want to claim a movie is edgy. The Farrelly Bros. this is not. I’m sure it will be a delightful movie though.
Love Jlaw, but this looks badly directed, not funny and I have a hard time swallowing the premise given her attributes.
Another JL flop….at least she’s consistent
Honestly this looks pretty funny and well acted hahahaha silly but unpredictable
