@Kailash29792: I think so we don’t need to expand the article too much. But I don’t why do we need to expand this article too much. Some IP editor is adding so much of extra information but only the necessary information needs to be added right?

No such rule. If you feel the article is becoming too big, separate articles can be created.

Thank you so much. This is not meant to be a generic holiday message and is a bit early but just wanted to say that if there is an iota of happiness left in me it is thanks to you & co 🙏. I know we make a difference here and without us, this place would be different. Also without you guys, I wouldn’t be here. Opposite of simultaneously shot

[edit]

When a film has half of its dialogue in Tamil and half in Malayalam, how do I word it since it is not simultaneous shot or multiple language version (a.k.a. no reshoots for different languages). See Alangu older revision [1]. Since Malayalam may not be 50% + (not sure), I removed it from the infobox. Although one source is in Malayalam, another source says Chemban Vinod Jose's new Tamil film titled 'Alangu'. DareshMohan (talk) 06:11, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a difficult question better asked at WP:ICTF. Is it a situation like Chennai Express where the Tamil dialogues are not subtitled? In my personal opinion, begin the lead with "Alangu is a 2024 Indian action thriller film", and mention the multiple languages later. If there is a consensus to include Malayalam in the infobox, mention snd emphasise Tamil as the primary language. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:24, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Retro

[edit]

Bro I added the second look poster & you deleted it & what The fuck is wrong with you? Are You having an ego clash with me? Please don't do this & next time I won't be talking nicely to you! The2KKidRulez (talk) 08:39, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The2KKidRulez, I don't have anything against you uploading another poster. You could have simply overwritten the existing File:Retro film poster.jpg (I did that now) rather than uploading a separate File:Retro.jpeg which is an example of a WP:BADFILENAME. --Kailash29792 (talk) 09:30, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thalli Pogathey

[edit]

Can you move Thalli Pogathey (film) to Thalli Pogathey? The disambiguation page is unnecessary — both the song and the TV series lack articles. We can add a hatnote to the film article about the song since its more popular. DareshMohan (talk) 09:00, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Made a technical move request. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:35, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended cameo appearance

[edit]

Who invented this term [2]? Never heard it, outside India. Is it not the same as a supporting role? When a known hero plays a smaller role that is longer than a fleeting cameo, this term is used. DareshMohan (talk) 10:17, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it appears to be equal to "special appearance". Kailash29792 (talk) 10:19, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Credited dot

[edit]

Sundar C is always credited as Sundar.C [3] and in one film as Sundar.C. Protocol? DareshMohan (talk) 19:48, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Open RM Kailash29792 (talk) 23:56, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have access to the CBFC of Azhagiya Tamil Magan because the title card says Azhagiya Tamilmagan as does the British certification [4] and audio DVD [5]. Starting to think the film was named incorrectly. DareshMohan (talk) 09:20, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In Sun NXT it says "Tamil Magan". Regardless of the CBFC spelling and title card spelling, we use the most common ones. It's quite obvious that all Tamil filmmakers don't have a good grasp of English, but why not consult before transliterating Tamil terms in English? That's why we have Eyarkai, Karkaa Kasadara, Maanmathaun and Manghal Nila. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:30, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I usually check if the sources use different spellings and if so, I check to see what the CBFC and title card say. Without a doubt, Wikipedia lies fault to circular reporting especially for Indian media. None of the sources on the page of Sulaan (all sources say "Sullan" incorrectly) use the correct spelling and that is where the Tamil to English transliteration issue comes into play. I feel in some cases it is our duty to correct wrong titles so that future articles do not put the wrong names. DareshMohan (talk) 09:56, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
similarly Dhool is spelt in titles as Dhol and Vallavan as Vallavaun (hope am not wrong). Srivin (talk) 13:13, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are right Srivin about Dhool Dhol, although Vallavan is spelt Valaavaan. Numerology? Or is Simbu just bad at transliterating to English? He appears to speak well though. Either way, we shouldn't use those spellings. DareshMohan, maybe Sulaan should be moved to the right English transliteration if that is common. [edit]

Thanks for speaking on behalf of me. I'll try to be careful with phrasing the paragraphs. I have a doubt if there's any important trivia as told by person can i use quotation marks for it ?. Srivin (talk) 13:06, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, quote marks are fine for exact quotes which are hard to rephrase. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:15, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unreleased Malayalam films

[edit]

Not sure if User:Dr. Blofeld is one of them or even Indian, but can you list all of the editor(s) that mass created Malayalam film pages, I forgot his name. Some of the films may be lacking sources or unreleased so I need to check them. DareshMohan (talk) 01:09, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There's Niajm and Vaidyasr. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:29, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are short films in an anthology film supposed to be italicised, in quotes or both? I have to change all of Category:Indian anthology films then. Quotation marks enclose the titles of: [...] short films [6]. DareshMohan (talk) 05:47, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is better asked at WP:WikiProject Film. Personally, I think quotes, because segments like those in Pulp Fiction have the short film treatment, although they take place in the same diegetic world. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:49, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
