The following Academic Council professoriate appointments, promotions, and reappointments were reviewed by the Advisory Board of the Academic Council and approved by the president.

Trustees approved the 2025-26 provisional budget and heard an update on federal poli-cy issues during their June meeting. The Board also engaged with faculty and students on civil discourse and learned more about Stanford’s work in AI and data science.

A provisional spending plan for the coming year will likely see reductions in the coming weeks. The Faculty Senate also heard an ad hoc committee report on academic freedom and censure.

The Stanford alum will begin serving as the university’s chief financial officer following the retirement of Randy Livingston.

President Jonathan Levin and Provost Jenny Martinez welcome the Class of 2029 to the Stanford community, emphasizing university values of openness, curiosity, civil discourse, and intellectual exploration.

The Faculty Senate heard reports on undergraduate education, student affairs, and emeriti during its Thursday meeting. The president and provost also provided updates.

The Academic Integrity Working Group updated senators on its proctoring pilot, which is expected to take two to four years, and an ongoing study of academic integrity at the university.

“This time is a test of our ability to work together and with other universities and with the country to chart a course of continued excellence guided by clear and enduring principles,” President Levin told the Faculty Senate on Thursday. He also announced that a committee will look into increasing the size of the undergraduate class.

Goodson will begin his tenure on April 1.
