Russian Naval Infantry - February 2023

February 1 Northern Fleet Marines of the 61st Naval Infantry Brigade held a practical training exercise near the village of Sputnik. Marines trained in firing PKM machine guns from various positions against simulated targets. Experiences gained from the war in Ukraine were reportedly incorporated in the training. The marines also trained in throwing grenades. A detachment of engineers was also active on the training ground. These units in laying and removing land mines [ 1 ]. Russian Naval Infantry - February 2022

February 03 Northern Fleet Servicemen of the air assault and reconnaissance formations have started parachute training courses with training being done on ground simulators. The training also involves the design and stowage of parachutes. The training will involve the use of three parachute systems, the D-6, D-10 and Arbalet-2 [ 1 ]. Caspian Flotilla Marines continued their live firing trainings at the Adanak training ground in Dagestan. AK-74s and RPG-7s were used during this exercise [ 2 ]. Pacific Fleet Tanks crews underwent additional training courses on how to operate the recently arrived T-80BV tanks.   January 01 Baltic Fleet The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that the 336th NI Brigade completed over 5.000 parachute jumps in 2021 as part of the regular training program. Jumps took place from An-26 and Mi-8 aircraft at altitudes between 600 to 1.200 meters and sometimes involved group jumps with up to 30 servicemen [ 1 ]. January 03 Caspian Flotilla According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the 177th NI Regiment completed over 2.000 parachute jumps in 2021 as part of the airborne training program. Each marine completed at least 20 parachute jumps during this training year [ 2 ] [ 3 ]. January 05 Pacific Fleet Artillerymen of the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade stationed in Kamchatka shelled avalanche prone areas near the Vilyuchisky volcano. Russian Naval Infantry - December 2021

  December 03 Pacific Fleet Marines of the 150th NI Brigade at the Primorsky Region made the first parachute jumps of the new training year that started on December 01. The marines jumped out of Mi-8AMTSh helicopters and An-26 transport aircraft flying at altitudes of 600 meters [ 1 ]. Black Sea Fleet A battalion sized group of 500 marines of the 810th NI Brigade are holding training exercises at Crimea. The marines will hold live firing exercises with small arms and anti-tank missile systems. driver-mechanics will also train in overcoming obstacles and driving over rough terrain and beaches [ 2 ]. When being deployed towards the training areas, the marines also worked out the actions needed to secure the marching column against attacks made by hostile reconnaissance and sabotage groups [ 3 ]. Russian Naval Infantry - November 2021

  November 01 Caspian Flotilla As part of a training battle, medics of the 177th NI Regiment trained to evacuate wounded soldiers from the battlefield with the use of armored BMM-80 medical vehicles. The wounded soldiers were stabilized on the battlefield and subsequently evacuated to first-aid posts in the field. Around 100 medical personnel were involved in the exercise [ 1 ]. November 03 Caspian Flotilla Details regarding the upcoming parachute training program for the 177th NI Regiment were reported by the Ministry of Defense. The air-assault battalion and reconnaissance units will perform about 500 training jumps from helicopters provided by the 4th Air Army.   October 01 Caspian Flotilla The final control check for the 2021 training year is currently ongoing at the Adanak training ground. Training exercises will focus on tactical, technical, engineering and medical skills as well as driving and small-arms fire.Orlan-10 and eleron-3 UAVs are used to monitor the progress of the exercise [ 1 ]. October 04 Black Sea Fleet As part of their control exercises, around 200 marines took part in a tactical exercise at the Opuk training ground on Crimea. The marines were tasked to engaged a group of hostile sabotage and reconnaissance forces while assuring the safe passage of a military convoy. Using data received from unmanned aerial vehicles, an advance party was sent in the rear of the enemy forces that waited in ambush. The main convoy moved in full combat readiness and avoided a road section that was possibly mined. Once at the ambush site, both groups engaged the opposing forces from the rear and flanks [ 2 ].
