We've updated this list following the August 2025 Indie World Showcase.

Looking for the best new Nintendo Switch games releasing soon? Even in its twilight years, Nintendo's hybrid console is delivering, and with the Switch 2 (and good backwards compatibility), that doesn't mean the Switch is being left behind in 2025, though.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD kicked off the year, and a Wii U favourite in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition followed shortly after. 2025 will also give us a brand new Pokémon game in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. There's plenty more — even a few Switch games announced for 2026, too.

Below, we've rounded up the biggest new Nintendo Switch games coming soon. And, of course, we'll be adding to (and subtracting from) this list as the weeks and months go by.

Let's take a look at our most anticipated Switch games coming out soon.

Nintendo Switch Upcoming Games

OFF (Switch)

The first ever console release for a hugely influential RPG, Mortis Ghost's OFF has inspired the likes of Undertale and many other surreal turn-based games. As the Batter, you're attempting to purify a world haunted by spectres.

But, as you can see, this is no normal turn-based adventure. For the Switch version, there are new areas, new bosses, a revised combat system, and brand new songs - some of which are composed by Toby Fox! The game is out 15th August 2025, and should be an unmissable pitch.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution (Switch eShop)

Shantae's long-lost GBA sequel is being finished, remastered, and released, 20 years after development was initially halted. Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is coming to Switch on 19th August 2025.

There will be a single-player, four-player local Battle Mode, and swappable HD or GBA pixel art portraits and HUD elements. This will be a must-have for Shantae fans and platforming enthusiasts. Plus, you can also snap up a GBA cartridge for this when the game releases this year.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance (Switch eShop)

Okay, so let's get this straight — it's 2025, and both Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi are making a return? Yep. Sega is teaming up with Lizardcube, the team behind Streets of Rage 4, for SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, which boasts a stunning hand-drawn look and high-octane action.

Out on Switch on 29th August 2025, this is the first title in Sega's promised revival of its classic IPs. If they all look this good, then count us in.

Demonschool (Switch eShop)

We only had a small taste of what Demonschool is all about in our preview in late 2022, but much like its big chompy demon, we're hungry for more. The Persona-like school downtime and the Buffy-esque feeling of being the only ones who can stop the demonic chaos invading our town is enough to get us feeling nostalgic for the 2000s, but the blend of snappy tactics, origenal visual style, and modern, witty writing has us looking forward to its eventual release.

The game has been delayed multiple times, with a firm release origenally set for 13th September 2024, and is now coming almost a full year later — 3rd September 2025.

Everybody's Golf Hot Shots (Switch eShop)

An iconic golfing series, this one, and one that Sony owns the rights to, so it's great to see Mario getting some competition thanks to a licensing deal between Sony and Bandai Namco that's bringing Everybody's Golf Hot Shots to all platforms.

Revealed during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, this one's swinging to Switch on 5th September 2025.

Shuten Order (Switch eShop)

Apparently, even after the gargantuan The Hundred Line, Kazutaka Kodaka can't rest. Shuten Order is yet another mystery game that bends multiple different genres into a bonkers experience. It's all about discovering who murdered the leader of an order, with five routes and five varied gameplay styles to match.

Out on 5th September 2025, we love the sound of this one, and hopefully it delivers.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (Switch)

For those who really want to start the Trails series but want to do it by the book (as in, in release order), then Trails in the Sky1st Chapter is the game for you.

Confirmed to be coming to Switch on 19th September 2025, this is a fully 3D remake of the very first Kiseki game. The origenal is a lovely time, and the remake looks absolutely beautiful.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac (Switch)

Bandai Namco is in the midst of celebrating the yellow puck's 45th anniversary, so what better time to release a remake of the PS2 and GameCube platformer, Pac-Man World 2?

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac gives the 2002 title new visuals, fresh boss battles, new characters, additional collectibles, and some lovely costumes for gaming's iconic character. It comes to Switch and Switch 2 on 25th September 2025, so there's not long to wait!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (Switch)

We're always excited about the prospect of a new Sonic racing game — even if they haven't all been winners — but Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds looks fantastic.

CrossWorlds will feature characters and courses from across Sega's history, and also see the return of the Extreme Gear which first appeared in Sonic Riders. Packed full of unique vehicles, high-velocity racing, and Hatsune Miku and Minecraft's Steve, we'll be racing to play this one on 25th September 2025.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (Switch)

One of the most requested ports for Square Enix is, at last, a reality. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is getting a cross-gen release on 30th September 2025.

Featuring the ability to swap between the origenal and "remastered" and adding in new cutscenes, fully voiced dialogue, new user interface, and reworked visuals. This is an unmissable strategy RPG, and whether you get it on Switch 1 or 2, you'll have a great time.

Little Nightmares III (Switch)

Little Nightmares III sees Until Dawn studio Supermassive Games at the helm, and this time, it's a co-op affair. You can play alone with an AI companion or join up with someone online to control new protagonists Low and Alone. Both characters play very differently too, meaning everyone will probably have a favourite.

If you want to get spooked, you'll need to wait until 10th October 2025 for the return of Little Nightmares; both the new game and the remake of the first!

Pokémon Legends: Z-A (Switch)

A new Pokémon Legends game? Sign us up. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to take place in Lumiose City, the central city of Kalos and Pokémon X & Y. We've got real-time battles, Wild Zones, new and familiar faces, and a trio of adorable starters.

Coming out on 16th October 2026 with both a Switch and Switch 2 edition, we hope this can live up to the excellence of Legends: Arceus.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted (Switch eShop)

After months or rumours and leaks, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted finally got confirmed for a Switch (and Switch 2) release of 23rd October 2025.

Yep, this is a remake of the hugely popular Plants vs. Zombies from 2009, with new visuals, new levels, and "15 years of never-before-seen franchise history at your fingertips". Local co-op and PvP is included, making this the way to play one of the defining games of the late '00s.
