ALBANY – If Gov. Spitzer gets his way, the Triborough Bridge will soon be named for Robert F. Kennedy, the New York senator slain in 1968 just as his anti-Vietnam War campaign for the White House was picking up steam.
A source familiar with the State of the State speech the governor will give on Wednesday said he will propose that the bridge – which connects Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx – be renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge.
“He was a figure who was tremendously respected, and the governor thinks there ought to be some structure that pays homage to his legacy,” the source said.
