- Ken Marschall (born October 28, 1950) is an American painter and illustrator notable for his paintings of famous ocean liners, such as the RMS Titanic, RMS Lusitania, and the HMHS Britannic, and other transportation vessels including the Bismarck, LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin and LZ 129 Hindenburg. His paintings have been used in many books about the Titanic, most notably his depictions of the sinking, of which no photographs that could be used were taken. Marschall has served as consultant to many works about the Titanic, including James Cameron's Ghosts of the Abyss, as well as Cameron's film of the same name, the two-part A&E television specials Death of a Dream and The Legend Lives On, and the video game Titanic: Honor and Glory. Lors de la découverte de l'épave de ce dernier par Robert Ballard, Marschall a réalisé de nombreuses peintures de celle-ci, qui ont fait la couverture de Time magazine entre autres. Passionné par le Titanic depuis sa jeunesse, il entretient une correspondance avec Walter Lord, historien du Titanic, jusqu'à sa mort. Il a également fréquenté certains des derniers survivants du naufrage, dont Eva Miriam Hart. Il a coécrit avec l'historien Don Lynch l'ouvrage Titanic, la Grande Histoire illustrée, et a participé avec lui, comme consultant historique, à la réalisation du film de James Cameron : Titanic et Les Fantômes du Titanic. Il avait déjà travaillé avec Cameron à la peinture de décors pour le film Terminator. (fr)
