- أنشئت الكلية التقنية بالرياض في عام 1403 هـ / 1983م كأول كلية تقنية متوسطة في المملكة العربية السعودية. وكان هدفها الأول تخريج الكوادر الفنية المؤهلة علمياً وعملياً للعمل في المجالات الفنية الوسطى التي تسهم بشكل مباشر في بناء الاقتصاد الوطني. وخلال السنوات الست الأولى من تطبيق برنامج الدبلوم ظهرت حاجة المؤسسة العامة للتدريب التقني والمهني للمدرسين الفنيين، للعمل في المعاهد الفنية التابعة للمؤسسة. لذا تبنت المؤسسة فكرة وتطبيق برنامج البكالوريوس لتأهيل المتميزين من خريجي برنامج الدبلوم في الكليات التقنية علمياً وتربوياً للعمل في مجال التدريس في المعاهد الثانوية الصناعية والكليات التقنية. وفي 10/6/1409هـ صدرت موافقة المقام السامي الكريم (7/194/م) على تطوير الكلية التقنية المتوسطة بمدينة الرياض ومدة فترة الدراسة فيها أربع سنوات لتمنح درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة التقنية وتعطي خريجيها من الميزات ما يعطي لخريجي كليات الهندسة في المملكة. والجدير بالذكر أن الكليات التقنية في المملكة العربية السعودية هي الكليات الوحيدة التي لا تتبع لوزارة التعليم العالي. - The Riyadh College of Technology (RCT) (Arabic: الكلية التقنية بالرياض) is a technical college in Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1403H/1983 as the first college of technology in the Kingdom. Its first objectives and priorities to graduate the qualified technical cadres scientifically and practically to work in technical areas those contribute directly in building the national economy. During the first six years of implementation of the diploma program, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) was in need for technical trainers to work in its technical institutes.Therefore, the corporation adopted the idea of applying Bachelor program to rehabilitate the distinguished graduates of the diploma program in technical college to work in the field of training in industrial secondary institutes and technical colleges.In 10/06/1409H, a royal decree was issued (M/194/7) to develop the intermediate technical college in Riyadh and the duration of training period for four years to granting bachelor's degree in the technical engineering and give graduates the same privileges granted to graduates of engineering schools in the Kingdom.
