Katepsin L1 je protein koji je kod čovjeka kodiran sa lokusa gena CTSL1.[3][4][5]

Protein kodiran ovim genom je lizosomna cistein proteaza, koja ima glavnu ulogu u katabolizmu unutarćelijskih protein. Njegove podloge uključuju kolagen i elastin, kao i alfa-1 inhibitor proteaze, glavnog kontrolnog elementa aktivnosti neutrofilske elastaze. Kodirani protein je upleten u nekoliko patoloških procesa, uključujući i miofibrilnu nekrozu u miopatiji i ishemiji miokarda i odgovor na bubrežnu tubularnu proteinuriju.[6][7][8]

Ovaj protein, koji je član peptidazne porodice C1, je dimer, sastavljen od disulfidno povezanih teških i lahkih lanaca, oba proizvedena iz jednog proteinskog prekursora. Najmanje dvije varijante ovog gena kodiraju transkripte istog protein.[5]

Interakcije

Pokazalo se da se CTSL1 ispoljava u proteinskoj interakciji sa cistatinom A.[9][10]
