Creation Methodology of Interactive Art Installation Based on Philosophy-Understanding Projection: Recreation of Traditional Chinese Painting

Published: 08 April 2015 Publication History

Abstract

This paper focuses on a research of creation methodology for interactive art installation, which emphasizes a kind of communication between artistic connotation and spectator's comprehension through some stimulation diffused by interactivity. Objective of this paper is to transfer a work's philosophy or signification, in an unconscious way, to cognition of spectator who will instinctively understand the artistic signification by our creation methodology. The purpose of this method is to bypass mind conscious function and directly inject some information with work's philosophical contents into spectator's comprehension without logical judgment.
For accomplishing this purpose, some multidisciplinary researches are needed such as psychology including psychological suggestion, research of unconscious, cognition, hypnotism... and philosophy. Otherwise, for realizing physical stimulation, some technical researches are introduced for constructing some mechanisms such as the odor module for stimulating olfactory sensation and the brain control module for activating the mind function participating in our interaction.
This paper is accompanied with an experiment which uses an interactive art installation, a Chinese ink painting and some philosophical principles to achieve an unconscious interactive communication.
