Darshan Hiranandani (born October 13, 1981, in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is an Indian entrepreneur and business executive, best known for his role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hiranandani Group, a real estate conglomerate in India.[citation needed]

Early Life and Education

Darshan Hiranandani was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He pursued higher education in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.[1][2]

Career

Hiranandani began his professional journey in the energy sector by founding the H-Energy Group of Companies in Mumbai in April 2009, focusing on providing energy solutions. In February 2014, he was appointed CEO of Hiranandani Communities, a subsidiary of the Hiranandani Group. He further expanded his leadership role by becoming the Managing Director of Nidar Group in January 2016.[3][4][5]

The Hiranandani Group, headquartered in Mumbai, has grown its presence across multiple cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The group's business interests span real estate, healthcare, education, energy, and hospitality. One of the group’s major achievements under Hiranandani's leadership was the inauguration of Yotta Infrastructure Solutions in July 2020, a company that operates one of the world’s largest data center campuses.[6]

Philanthropy and Board Memberships

Hiranandani is actively involved in several philanthropic and professional initiatives. He serves as a member of various councils under ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) and is on the Board of Trustees for his alma mater, the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for RIT Dubai.[2]

In February 2004, Hiranandani contributed to the establishment of the Dr. L.H. Hiranandani Hospital, a non-profit institution under the Hiranandani Foundation. The hospital has been recognized with the Ramkrishna Bajaj Award for being one of the best hospitals in India.[7]

Personal Life

Darshan Hiranandani is married to Neha Jhalani, the daughter of Delhi-based businessman Pradeep Jhalani. His sister, Priya Hiranandani, is married to London-based businessman Cyrus Vandrevala.[8]

Allegations and CBI Investigation

In March 2024, Darshan Hiranandani was named as an accused in a CBI FIR regarding the alleged cash-for-query case involving former TMC MP Mahua Moitra. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused Moitra of sharing her parliamentary login credentials with Hiranandani in exchange for gifts and favors. Following a Lokpal directive, the CBI conducted searches at Moitra's residence and was tasked with investigating the allegations. Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December 2023 after being found guilty by the ethics committee. The CBI continues to investigate the case and provide periodic updates.[10][11]
