Hikari Senju grew up in Chappaqua, New York and went to Horace Greeley High School.[4] Senju studied computer science with a focus on AI and machine learning at Harvard University, where he earned his degree in 2015.[3][5] During his studies, he also cross-registered for courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).[6]

While studying at Harvard, Senju co-founded education technology startup Quickhelp, a platform designed to provide on-demand tutoring services.[7][8] Quickhelp was later acquired by Yup.com in 2017, where he served as Head of Growth until 2018.[9][10][8]
