Uppu Puli Kaaram (transl. Salt Sour Spicy) is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language television series, which is an official remake of the South Korean series My Father Is Strange.[1] Directed by M. Ramesh Baarathi and Chidambaram Manivannan for Disney+ Hotstar.[2][3][4] The show revolves around modern love, with stories on relationships in the modern generation.

The principal characters of the series include Ponvannan, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Naveen Muralidhar, Ayesha Zeenath, Ashwini Aanandita, Deepika Venkatachalam, Krishna Raghunandhan, Farina Azad, Raj Ayyappa and Pranav Mohan.[5] It is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 30 May 2024 and ended with 128 episodes on 2 January 2025.[6] [7][8] It also airs on Star Vijay from 15 June 2024 on every Saturday at 4:30PM.
Synopsis
editThe story revolves around about a middle class family Subramani and Subbalakshmi are a happy family with their three daughters, and their one son. However, one day, a young man, who is a celebrity, shows up at the household claiming that he is the son of the family.
Subramani is shocked and feels guilty & responsible for Thippu’s plight. He decides to be the fatherly figure to Thippu. However, the four siblings are confused with the arrival of the new guy and the drama unfolds while all of them continue to handle issues in their respective love lives.

Production

editThe show was announced by Disney+ Hotstar on Sunday on the occasion of Puthandu (Tamil New Year) on 14 April.[10] The series production is handled by Vikatan Televistas,[11] which has already produced the crime thriller series, November Story, for Disney+ Hotstar in 2021, starring Tamannaah Bhatia in lead. The series is Vikatan Televistas`s second collaboration with Disney+ Hotstar.[12] This is the second remake of a South Korean series after MY3.[13]
The series is directed by M. Ramesh Baarathi. It has music by Sheik, and cinematography by R. V. Parthiba Krishna.
Release
editThe series was unveiled on Sunday on the occasion of Puthandu on 14 April, the OTT giant had released a first-look poster of the family entertainer.[14] The first promo was released on 17 April 2024 featuring, The teaser shows four siblings of a family fighting for their TV remote.
The show will air on after Heart Beat series.[15][16]
It was announced that the series would be released in Tamil and other Indian languages and would make its streaming debut on 30 May 2024.[17][18]
