Over on Wikivoyage

My friend, I completely understand that your interactions on voy:Talk:Austria are getting you frustrated. I would go as far to say that the user you're disagreeing with has been going out of his way to irritate you since he joined the project; rest assured that my eyes are open, and that I will be discussing with other admins if his present behaviour patterns continue. We've got your back.

But on the other hand, you have it within your power to not allow his comments to get to you. People can only push our buttons when we let them. Consider that I've already had to protect the article from a nascent edit war. If the current barbed comments you're exchanging degrade into personal attacks, it wouldn't look good for you, as the much more senior Wikivoyager. I'm no Christian, but I believe Jesus was onto something with "turn the other cheek."

Remember, Wikivoyage should be fun, so if you're not having fun, you can always walk away from the discussion. There are lots of other experienced users watching the conversation and article, so nothing untrue, unsuitable or offensive is going to be allowed to stand.

If you decide to carry on the discussion, please at least take on board this advice: try to be a bit more dispassionate, be more concerned with the bigger picture (i.e. what's good for the article - as a Wikivoyage travel guide), and remember that whether or not someone else is being disrespectful, there is still a line that you shouldn't cross.

If you'd like to speak about this more, I'm happy to do so either here on WP or via email, but think that any such discussion is best kept away from Wikivoyage.

Regarding WP:SYNTH and WP:V

While what you might be adding might very likely be correct, that does not mean it is acceptable encyclopedic information. An encyclopedia is a "summary of knowledge"; and the way this is usually done on Wikipedia is by looking for secondary sources (i.e. not the election results themselves, which are primary) so that we can include the most relevant information and not every original conclusion which an editor can come to based on this: WP:V (the basic requirement that all information be verifiable in reliable sources) is not negotiable. Hi, thank you for expanding Trailer-on-flatcar. Overall, your expansion was very good and helped improve the article. The one issue is that all the references you added are bare URLs, which are not a good way to add references as they don't provide much information, and are very vulnerable to link rot. English Wikipedia needs an article on de:Verkehrswende

Hi, I saw your change comment on Transport in Israel. My (Google translate) assisted reading of de:Verkehrswende is that it is a German concept. In the English speaking Transport orthodoxy, it is more market forces and government policy driving change through emission caps, congestion, health costs etc. There is no real turnaround, it is just a gradual transformation. BTW, regarding the cobalt bombs radiation-induced cancer we could maybe move the 3rd bullet, named "After 20 half-lives (about 105 years)", into a higher dosage that is well outside the normal background radiation variability. Maybe 15 half-lives would do that (2⁵=32 times higher radiation). Cancer would still be stochastic though, so technically it does not change anything.. idk mumbling

Well, guess why? If you act belligerently towards someone whose additions you don't like, that'll drive 'em away. I'm sure Wikipedia will bloom and grow with this strategy...
