Thank you today for Tomorrow Speculative Fiction, "about a science fiction magazine edited by Algis Budrys in the 1990s. It began as a print magazine and was one of the first to attempt the migration to an online format, but Budrys could not get enough subscribers to make the magazine profitable. It was never a major force in the genre, but it published material by some well known writers, including Ursula Le Guin and Harlan Ellison."! - I remember an organist who was pictured on the Main page on his birthday ten years ago, and I found two recent organ concerts to match, - see top of my talk ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:55, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

I misunderstood what you were asking about -- the bot never adds the article to the list; that always has to be done by the reviewer. It should add the icon, but I think what probably happened is that the bot stopped partway through a run. If the system gets busy, it can refuse to let the bot continue. The bot is written to try to pick up where it left off when this happens, but it doesn't handle every possible case. If you see that happen again, once the bot runs and doesn't add the icon, then you can be sure it isn't going to try again and you can just add it yourself. Checklist reviews

Hi Mike, just saw your comment at one of the RFA votes on old checklist reviews, where you noted checklist reviews were not discouraged six years ago. I can't say I remember off the top of my head the culture six years ago, and we have tightened up on reviewing reviews over the past few years, but checklists reviews have been discouraged since at least 30 March 2007[1]. I have the impression that the last few years have seen more discussion about tightening up standards than before -- DCGAR for instance alarmed many of us. Yes. I actually lost sleep over it at the time, thinking about how overwhelmingly hostile it must have felt to Doug, who had put so many hours into those articles. The saddest part to me was that he really seemed genuinely unable to see what the problem was. I don't think he could ever have been one of our best content contributors, but there was a place for someone willing to work that hard and read old sources, if he'd understood how to make the work he liked doing fit with the project's goals. I was not a fan of the process, but I wasn't able to come up with an effective alternative path, and I suppose no-one else could either. Relatedly, feel a bit down about the current GAN drive. Planet Stories cover

Hi Mike. I added the Planet Stories cover to the Planet Stories article because I'm trying to get it promoted as a featured image over at WP:FPC (you can see its nomination here) and a couple of people have said they'll support it only if it's in the Planet Stories article. I think your point about sandwiching is fair, but is there someplace else in the article it could go? It's by far the highest-resolution copy of a Planet Stories issue we have. My first instinct was actually to replace the article header image, but since it's a Featured Article I thought that might cause umbrage. Moonreach (talk) 18:59, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

I think that's an unnecessary requirement -- it's easily possible to imagine a set of top quality images all suitable for an article to small to include them. And it presumes that the image has no value to a reader unless it's in an article, which is not true. Anyway, why don't you replace the Ingels image with the new one?
